Lost Gig Venues In Southampton 22:30 - Jun 20 with 925 viewsSaintNick

We have more than we have ever had before but lost a few good ones along the way.

1. Top Rank - Saw some great gigs there from the mid 70's till late 80's, Cockney Rebel, The Stranglers, The Clash were highlights and whisper it Staus Quo in 1973

2. Riverside - Again for a couple of years in the mid 80's saw some crackers there, Icicle Works, Eyeless in Gaza, 999.

Anyone else see some top gigs at long lost venues

Nazareth, Man at Old Refectory at the Uni and also saw both at Top Rank in 73 for £1!. Also saw Man at the "Odeon Theatre" again in 73, £1.50 front Circle ticket says and Streetwalkers with roger Chapman of Family!
And why be embarrassed to say you saw Quo?
All down to personal taste I guess

I discounted the Uni as its still going so i believe.

I liked Quo circa 1973-76 is, they had a few classic albums in that period

The Swaythling gig was in a little barn/nightclub behind the Stoneham Arms rather than a gig venue and the Siloutte was a casino that put on cabaret bands I think, although I was too young to go to either

Reverend McFeat during Lockdown at some swanky flat was an audio & visual delight.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

My family used to own the Bay Tree Inn decades ago which I believe was a music venue also.

Haven't seen or heard anything about it since those days so assume it had been eaten up by the Uni for something else than a music venue
