I watched the Watford friendly live on stream. It was not pretty, played on Wealdstone FC pitch (a bit like Eastleighs stadium) & Watford played in Blue shirts (are we sure it was Watford & not Wealdstones FC). Bazuna played full 90 & looks good, but the game itself was dire. We had most possession but Watford looked more likely to score than we did. JWP played for about 70 mins & looked OK. We played with 3 ctr backs & KWP + MD playing wings backs. We do leave so much space out wide playing this system & decent teams will exploit it big time. Improvement needed before the Spurs game. We're desperate for a goalscorer let's hope Mara produces. Apparently Man City have rejected our offer of 16M for Delap so we may have to look elsewhere, but please not another one from Championship.
Nil nil. Didn't see the game, but obviously we couldn't score again. Did the New striker come on?

He's from France so he won't be allowed to play in this country until the club obtains a work permit for him, which, as Nick has mentioned on the homepage, is not a formality now that the post-Brexit rules are being enforced. The normal requirement for a footballer is that you have to be a regular full international. But, for all professions, the fact you are a high wage earner counts in your favour.
I don’t have a problem with the defence being sorted out first. We were all to easy to score against last season and that was our biggest problem. We have new stickers coming in so they are clearly looking at the goals situation to, but given the usual perceived wisdom is that you build from the back, we seem to be going about things the right way.

Playing one striker doesn't work for us. Djneppo had a good game tho but as been said too much room to be exploited by good teams.
If we can't score we are proper FúckeÄ
He finally played Stuart Armstrong up front, and said that he liked him in that position. He was indeed one of the most creative players on the pitch, and I and probably a few others have been suggesting playing him up front for at least a year....I wonder of one of the new boys thought it was a good idea, I'm sure it wouldn't have been Ralph, his plan would be the five at the back.

Still same old build up from the back, near zero through balls for the striker/s. Ralph, please fu ck off.
Perhaps it would be better to reserve judgement until we have our new striker in the team, I went to the game, it was a bumpy uneven sloping pitch, Watford worked hard to stop us playing.
Essentially we only had one striker up front in each half, it was hard to get balls through to them, my impression was that it was all about keeping the ball and looking for openings rather that pouring forward everytime we got the ball.
If we didn't get the ball through to the striker, then whose fault is that, the manager or the players who didn't play the through ball.

I thought it was a good run out for us and it was nice to get a close up look at the new signings. The keeper is vocal, confident and good with his feet…I have a feeling he’s going to be a real shining light. Bella-Kotchap is a beast and has a real presence and although Lavia gave the ball away a bit, he’s definitely got something about him.
I really don’t get why so many take these pre-season games so literally. I’ve seen us have cracking pre-seasons in the past, then play awful when the real thing starts, likewise awful pre-seasons, followed by great league starts. First and foremost they’re about fitness and getting up to speed, essentially the results mean nothing.
