This is not an anti Che Adams thing as I like him, I like his work ethic and effort but why is he so woeful in front of goal? His conversion rate must be awful. He seems to be able to hit the bar, the post, the keeper with impunity but everything in between seems to be beyond him - except for an odd moment like Leicester away. The thing is, at the end of the day he was brought to score goals and he isn't delivering - in fact, if he delivered a fraction of his chances, we may not be where we are now and RH wouldn't be staring down the barrel of the gun. He is getting the chances but more often than not you know he will miss.
Then add in the lack of goals from elsewhere and it is not difficult to see where our problem lies and just about all of us saw it last season. |  | | |  |

When we signed Che, we had Ings, and Che set a lot of goals up for him.
I think Che is a really good all-round striker. He pushes us up the pitch, is aggressive, and I couldn't believe he was taken off yesterday for the hapless Mara, who offers next to nothing.
It isn't Che's fault we didn't sign another striker. If anything it was perhaps his performances against Leicester and Chelsea that persuaded management that we could get by without one.

I really don't get all this football jargon.
They've over complicated what is a simple game (Brian Clough's words).
I understand that what they call a false 9 is a player that drops off the number 9 position, but why call it a false 9.
In the days we played with sweepers behind the centre back we didn't call them "false 5's".

He averages a goal every 5 games, both for Saints and for Scotland, so we can expect about 8 goals a season from him, which is OK for a support striker playing alongside a goalscorer who's contributing 15 goals a season. The problem is he is playing alongside Adam Armstrong who has scored 1 goal in his last 25 league games, which works out at less than 2 goals a season or Sekou Mara, who so far doesn't look like he is going to score at all. But, maybe he'll be another 2 goal a season man.
Meanwhile, at the other end we haven't kept a clean sheet in the league for over half a year. In fact, our only clean sheet in our last 22 league games was Forster's against Arsenal back in April. so we need at least 2 or 3 goals to win a game.
The mathematics of that just doesn't equal enough points for us to stay up. We urgently need to buy a proven goalscoring striker as soon as the next transfer window opens. With our limited budget our best option is one coming towards the end of his career, like Marko Arnautovic. We also need an experienced defensive midfielder, like Wanyama, to replace Romeu.
