When football should be second - and not the fans 15:46 - Nov 21 with 810 viewssaint901

Football fans are in three groups.

There are those who would watch kids playing with a tin can in the street (if kids were allowed to play in the streets these days).

There are those who want top class competition or want their club to do well or generally want to watch football but at a decent level which can be subjective.

There are those who "don't mind" the game but will watch only big tournaments and cup games.

I suspect that each group is larger than the previous group.

What must that last group think when they see:

FIFA's chief exec going on an insane, tin eared rant just to keep Far East money flowing into his organisation?

FIFA giving in to Qatar and pressuring Budweiser into breaking an agreement that has been in place for at least a year?

FIFA threatening to use the laws of a football game to punish a player for wearing a very minor token of support for people who are football fans?

FIFA past presidents openly saying that Qatar (and Russia) should never have been picked as hosts?

National TV stations allowing their football anchors to say that they are there to "report not support" the World Cup. (A stance I agree with incidentally).

They must wonder how a game played by kids with a tin can has made itself into a laughing stock and be really happy that the world shove ha'penny tournament would never stoop so low.

Have you seen the FIFA documentary on Netflix? It’s time to move away from FIFA, it’s openly bent and will have people walking away from the game in their millions.
