That is a rubbish comment from someone from Totton. Fareham was solidly Saints until the early 1970s when there was massive overspill from the Portsmouth housing estates into new housing in the Fareham area. The same is happening now in Whiteley. In the 1960s the Saints supporters at my school in Fareham used to run coaches to Saints away games, including the one at Leyton Orient in 1966, when we first won promotion to the top flight. I can only recall 2 Pompey fans in the entire school and they came from the Portsmouth area, were considered odd and never went to football anyway. Titchfield, which is only just outside Fareham, is probably the borderline now between majority Saints and majority Pompey. [Post edited 4 Jan 2023 0:06]
