Nick you seem to neglect the fact that Ralphs efforted in the year of 2022 meant we where bottom of all league clubs for points acquired. The ref and var have a lot to answer for last night. The handball in the build up to the first penalty was criminally ignored. As for the 2nd pen - ive never seen anything like that - how did VAR not intervene. I wonder where the club will be in 12months time? Will we bounce back like Burnley or be in admin as the club is saddled by debt from the new owners poor dip in the transfer market. Why have a pop at ballard, he put effort in. Not something i Saw from Mara or Armstrong. Armstong has an inversion to going in the penalty area.

| Southampton V Grimsby Town The Verdict on 12:17 - Mar 2 with 1461 views | saintwizzler | Djenepo looks like a fan who has won a competition to play for the first team in a friendly. Sports Republic tried to buy young players to hopefully sell on at a profit. Only Lavia is going to fit that bill. Relegation has been coming for a while. Without serious investment the club was going to go. I’m talking £30m+ players. Not £10/15m ones. If we can’t compete then it’s time to go But remember Semmens said he turned down other parties and Sports Republic were the right owners. Smug Kunt he is. | |

Yeah well with the ref and VAR even I can’t defender last night! As the first pen is a debatable one where I can see why it could or couldn’t be given ether way, so I can’t say too much there (although I did see the replay of this supposed handball by their lad beforehand but I don’t think it did hit their lads hand, so unless you’ve got a decent clip of that then unfortunately I think they may have got that one right). But why that one took soo long and the same for the two goals we had ruled out is just BAFFLING! As anyone could see all these incidents within just watching it once! So how it took them ages for all of them just took the mick! And then for the second penalty they got, now that was taking the p*ss! As why CC has gotta do it anyway is just stupid and not needed, but how the ref gives that after a little slap and how theatrical this lad goes down is appalling! As he’s pushing CC first anyway and he just gives him a tiny slap to get him off of him, but the fact the ref had such a delay in giving it tells me that he was obviously told by one of this AR’s or 4th official over what happened and they were the ones that have it and not even the ref! Still just ridiculous of how it was given But saying all that’s well and good, but we shouldn’t even need VAR and their decisions to go our way when we’re playing a team that we’re in the non leagues last season! As yeah they certainly didn’t help, but we shouldn’t need there help at all when playing Grimsby and should be winning like 4-0 or something irrelevant of how good or bad the officials are!

Anyone just has to watch a Championship game to realise how utterly ridiculous VAR is. The game flows, everything is decided by humans on the pitch that don't look at anything under a microscope and the official get most things right with the odd mistake thrown in. These even out of the game (and the season). The version of football played under the watching eye of VAR is a much more inferior game. Scrap it all.

| Southampton V Grimsby Town The Verdict on 15:07 - Mar 2 with 1212 views | Bazza | What a namby-pamby game football has become. So penalties can now be awarded when the 'offences' had no impact on the play whatsoever, how did the rules get to this position? First one can be arguable but for the second VAR ref would have seen the massive play acting (worth at least a booking but never given) and silly tap on the back. I agree with refs final paragraph above that any premier team should be walking it anyway so Saints deserve nothing especially since we are yet still waiting for a striker (remember those) to score. | | | |

I said last night after that 10 minute wait for VAR and then the supposed actual referee taking about 10 minutes to make a decision that the game is now dead! Thanks fk for a beer before and after the game nowadays!

| Southampton V Grimsby Town The Verdict on 05:50 - Mar 3 with 873 views | saintwizzler | If we’d of had those VAR decisions awarded for us and gone on to win the game nothing would have been said on here. It all levels itself out of a season. VAR is here to stay so just get used to it. The penalties were awarded, rightly or wrongly, so that’s that. You can’t go around slapping people in the back however soft it maybe especially with VAR in action now. Blame Ćaleta-Car, at 26 years old he should know better. | |

I think so - so when has VAR evened itself out this season. I can think of quite a few inexplicable handballs that havent gone our way. Or JWP's goal against Villa at home. Just think if that had counted we might still have Jones in command
