International break - learning how to defend 07:38 - Sep 4 with 1101 viewsPatfromPoole

We need some really intensive training on the art of defending this week.

However I guess we will lose the following players for the next few days:-

Bazunu
Bednarek
Harwood-Bellis
Charles
Smallbone

Not ideal.

Start playing our full backs in our half may help.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

And no wacky positional changes, like:-

- KWP at LB
- Manning at CB
- Charles at RB

As long as I am alive, I will never work that one out…..

It's not learning to defend is it.

It's the way Martin is making the team play.

It was the same at MK Dons.

It was the same at Swansea.

Everyone knew this would happen.

We've conceded more goals in 5 games than any other team in the league.

Agreed.
RM's policy of possession football just doesn't work (unless you have the quality of Man City).
It's a recipe for disaster, we were very lucky in our 4 previous matches to pick up the ten points because we look like conceding goals everytime the opposition get in our half.
We had an opportunity to bring in a Manager that has proven himself at this level, RM has achieved nothing other than convincing our owners that he's the right man for the job.
With the squad we've got we should be able to get automatic promotion but we will not achieve it with RM at the helm.

not a question of learning how to defend just play them a little deeper so the kick and rush football cant get behind them when the ball is turned over, there you go solved it,i await an approach from saints for my input

Another problem is tippy tappy between the defenders.
One bad touch and it’s a goal conceded.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.
