When will they sack this guy, he makes endless errors and todays was beyond believable
The incompetence is staggering

VAR was brought in because of idiots like him.

The game is dead at the highest level because of the abysmal standard of refereeing that made VAR sadly inevitable.

But this guy has been at it for seasons, he had a shocker for us three seasons ago I think when he disallowed a Charlie Austin goal for “offside”
I don’t get how the same ones keep making errors yet keep their jobs

Agree it was a bad decision. But as for the any other profession analogy. In no other profession would every decision you make be analysed over and over again. Nor would people surround you, shout and abuse you. Nor would you have to put up with cheating that makes the decision making process even harder. And in your work place you would hopefully be afforded some respect. Refs have a near impossible job made worse by the likes of Klopp Arteta and others who when they don’t get there own way start bleating on about the integrity of the game. No wonder you can’t get people to take up refereeing at grass roots level.

I'm sure it'll be all over the press this morning. Man City/Spurs, but basically he went to blow for a foul on City but then played a good advantage and waved play on then as Grealish was going well to be on goal he blew and brought the game back for a foul!

Well something like that

TBF, I can understand the players throwing a wobbly in this instance!

Haarlands wobbly was hilarious. Epic tantrum then stormed off the pitch. If ,when they were young, mine or anyone else’s kids behaved like that you would be looking at an early night at the very least.

Who'd be a ref. In the 70's and 80's the ref was left to get on with it and ref as he saw fit. since then the PGMOL have put more and more pressure on. Every game they are assessed from the stands and if they don't give the correct decision to the letter of the law they are marked down and can be demoted. There is no room for common sense.
Then they have TV scrutinising every call in slow motion and VAR second guessing them by examining calls to within millimetres.
On top of that the managers are now allowed to go crazy at the 4th official every few minutes and they also seem to be allowed to march onto the pitch at the end and berate the ref in front of the watching public.
No wonder the standard appears to be dropping. Or is it? Is the standard the same as it ever was but they are scrutinised in so many ways it appears worse?

What with social media lynch mobs and death threats I'm surprised anyone wants to be a ref. The good people will avoid it and we'll be left with all the absolute numpties.
Fans and media need to understand that it's not a science. Every decision is a matter of opinion. The more people you have giving their opinion on every decision, the more confused it all gets. I get managers goig crazy when big decisions affect titles and relegations, and all the associated money involved, but unless you want the game ref'd by a computer then everyone has to accept that mistakes are made.

It's fooked. I watched the Chelsea v Brighton game yesterday and it took VAR/the ref minutes to decide that it wasn't a penalty after the ball smacked the Chelsea defender in the face and not his arm. Everyone could see that was the case - and I mean everyone. But no, the dimwits at VAR asked the ref to look at the monitor!

Apparently he's also gone off on the Socials and could well be getting a telling off from those powers that be that do the telling off in the FA

Never understand the obsession with Refs and mistakes. They make mistakes.. Its annoying and frustrating when it affects your team.
And no refs were not better in some ye olde bygone glory rose tinted era.
They ballsed up then.. Its just people and pundits didn't endlessly replay it and drone on about it.

Pretty much summed it up perfectly, and even then he’s human mistakes are inevitable. But you don’t see people going on about the open goal Haaland missed, or the other many mistakes City made, yet will hear everyone go on non stop about an officiating mistake which was about the only one he made and didn’t have VAR or anything to help him with.
As he almost certainly blew either because he didn’t see Grealish when playing the advantage, or simply got told by the junior AR that he was offside o gave the free kick rather than an offside (even though the offside would’ve been wrong).

But at the end of the day he’s only human, and mistakes are inevitable, yet it’s pretty pathetic how it’s only the refs that really get hampered for every single one, and that’s why so very few wanna be one, which is why the quality ain’t exactly the best. But still interning what many make of them even though they’ve never done it themselves…

But repetitive errors by the same employee would not go unpunished
My gripe is they never really get a proper punishment or suspension or reprimand
i see city players are already being called out by the FA for their reactions and rightly so but when do we hear the PGMOL calling out these shocking performances?
Managers and the like get fined and suspended
Whne do you hear "due to the game affecting error by Mike dean Simon Hooper Darren England Anthony Taylor etc etc they will be suspended from officiating for two games"

Does "punishing" a referee make them a better referee?
If not, then what is the point of "punishment". It won't stop them making a mistake again and if anything will make them more nervous and unsure in future.

I think refs have become too soft , made worse by the detailed reviews of every issue. Why do football refs move backwards when players argue with them, why not stand their ground as in Rugby, then book aggressors?

does letting the same culprits keep making the same errors with out reprimand work?

You will always get errors and differing opinions. I’m talking about the treatment of people. Haarland screaming in the face of the ref was totally unacceptable. Introduce rugby style respect the ref is an absolute priority and start sending off players for a start. No one deserves the abuse the refs are getting in any walk of life.

fully agree with the fact he and the players should get reprimanded and fined which they are i believe
my point is the same refs keep making the same errors and what is their fine, punishment suspension etc?
