Deliver the ball.... to who? Under different circumstances I would be for it as he is an upgrade on Smallbone/Aribo. But how many midfielders do we need?

FFS let's get our priorities right. They should be 1. goalkeeper 2. centre forward.

Many will disagree for a variety of reasons (Skate connections, ££££'s etc), but I'd take him back.

I am concerned that our midfield lacks experience in this League.

He is also versatile, could fill in at right-back if we needed.

Would probably have to be a loan though.

We didnt worry about his Sate connections for the 410 games he played for Saints and the 55 goals.

Like you I would have jom back on loan as he is a very versatile player

A loan would mean we can take no other loan players. Is that really the best option? Again, our priorities should be 1.goalkeeper 2. centre forward. Get the priorities sorted and see where that leaves us.

We could still loan players from overseas, as we did with Alderweireld.

It’s just two loans from Prem clubs which is the limit.

I don’t think Ramsdale moving to us is very likely.

OK, but what if we loan JWP and then a loan option on Sam Johnstone or other Prem keeper comes up? The keeper is such a high priority and a loan deal makes sense given that RM will want to put Baz back in when he's fit.

But, even without that, I would argue that a centre forward is a major priority and a loan deal is a possibility (setting aside the issue of the ££ that would be spent on JWP and needed for a CF).

He's a midfielder. Of course, we will try to sign him. We are collecting midfielders like some people collect stamps so we can top the passing stat league. Centre forwards and goalkeepers are not welcome because it's more difficult for them to pass sideways and backwards so they spoil the passing stat total.

My two'penneth is that if (huge if) we got him then we should play him as West Ham did, i.e. at the top of midfield diamond.

Our present suite of midfielders are largely defensive and/or lack the vision for a forward pass (or they're following RM orders) and perhaps one of the lack f goals issues is a lack of supply?

JWP playing as a "number 10" might be what we need.

Personally I'd be surprised if we saw him back but I'd be happy if he did.
