It was 40,000, to build on our success in the 80s. It was turned down by the council, led by Deacon, who also happened to be the chairman of Portsmouth Football Club at the time, having been turned down for a position on he board at Southampton Football Club. 25,000 was a later one, out in the countryside, well after McMenemy left.
