I thought it was a penalty - it looked like Walcott got taken out after he got to the ball first. It looked like there was contact too.
Surprising that Walcott said that he felt the challenge and was still aching from it, but thought it wasn't a penalty.
As a follow up, I would have also liked VAR to have checked for a handball. It was like he tucked the ball under his arm, before realising and moving !! Can see why that was perhaps not given, but have seen pens given for less - like the 1 Newcastle got at Spurs for example :-)
Job done without any VAR assistance, so let's bank it for when it is needed !! |  |
