But teams still need to win to qualify and then try and top the group to get a better draw. I don’t get why teams just don’t go for it from the start. How frustrating must it be for teams to go out in the group stages because they have deliberately played cagey football? | | | |

I checked this with work colleagues in The Netherlands. Although Holland is not the same as The Netherlands, 'Dutch' is fine as an adjective when referring to both. Which is just as well because there isn't an easy alternative. | |

Just about every Dutch squad at major competitions has been riven with conflict and animosity. As individuals, they are very "confident" and forthright, and don't hold back from saying what they think. This bunch have probably been better than most, but they have a dodgy defence, and the self inflicted sending off proved fatal. But for that, I think they would have won. |  |
