You're right, it now depends on what Boris announces later this week. Hopefully he takes into account that although the infection rate is going through the roof, many vaccinated so the death rate is actually falling.

Strikes me that they are trying to avoid a delay at all costs, due to the fixture calendar for next year already being clogged up as a consequence of the World Cup in Qatar.

I’d wager that the World Cup won’t happen anyway due to another COVID variant next winter……

I would be happy if the World Cup got cancelled in Qatar. They should never have got it in the first place and Beckham might not get his big pay day as their ambassador.
