Take a look at the Premier League table, it is slowly sorting itself out, the big 6 plus Newcastle now occupy the top 7 places and then look at the 6 clubs below us, all with greater resources than us .

It highlights that if you have a mega lot of money you can buy your way into the top, but if you just have a shed load then you are in with the rest of the pack

Newcastle havent spent a mega load of cash on big names. They got a good manager and not tried to run before walking.

Strangely, there are 4 Midlands clubs in the PL - Leicester, Wolves, Villa & Forest - and all 4 currently occupy the bottom 4 places.

Maybe not big names but they have spent over £200 million in January and the summer window, thats a lot of spending.

Thats got them to the top of the 14 clubs under the big six, if they are within a shout of the top 4 they will spend even more in the January window

Westham spent £163mill this summer.
Forest spent £150mill this summer.
Everton £80mill (plus 100's millions of the last 5 seasons)
Aston Villa spent 70 this summer and 100mill last year.

All those clubs are towards the bottom.

Eddie Howe has bought sensibly and nearly a whole new team for that money. Matt Targett was a villa reserve when he signed for them. Since Jan they are in the top 3 or 4 teams points wise.

Sometimes you just have to take your hat off and say hes done a fantastic Job there.

And I'll fess, I didn't want him down here and wonder if he could have done it without spending those millions (sensibly). I now think maybe he could have as didn't we spend north of £50m?

Nick, I don't know if you know you are doing this but about this tme last year when Liverpool were 2nd, you posted that there was a big two and other teams couldn't hope to compete with them. This season, now Liverpool are 7th, there is a top seven. If they were 4th, there would be a top 4 etc. To be fair, Sky do the same. When Liverpool were 11th earlier this season they changed their top 10 table to a top 11 one.. Now they are back in the top ten, they've reverted to showing the top 10.

Sounds like SKY alright. Have they launched a campaign to stop Klopp receiving that touchline ban yet for the City game? Imagine their cameras not being to film his goal celebrations. Terrible thought...

I was amused that Wolves tried to get QPR’s manager, an English guy who just happens to be fluent in Portuguese, having previously coached in Portugal…..

Im not sure what your point is here, last season there were only two contenders for the titlea dn those two teams were a Big two, but I have never suggested otherwise about anything other than a Big 6, (Plus the emergence of Newcastle.

The only BIg Two are Liverpool & Man Utd in terms of global support etc but not in spending power.

There now being a top 7 is nothing to do with Liverpool, it is about Newcastle coming into the equation

People accuse me of a Liverpool bias, but the truth is many on here are more fixated about them than I am.

I have never mentioned the word top 6 or 7 etc, it has only been about "BIG" 6 or 7

This wont change when Arsenal for instance had two season in 8th and Leicester were above them I never suggested the big 6 were now including leicester instead of Arsenal.

There are 7 clubs with bigger support and more financial resources than the rest of us,

You'll have to make that top 9 now. But, to be fair, your Liverpool are hanging on to the coat tails of Fulham and Brighton. Newcastle are leaving them for dust though.
