Tonight’s game 22:21 - Apr 21 with 1995 viewsMattFinish

Think the players showed we have enough to not be in the position we’re in and can easily compete with any team in the bottom half
I think the manager showed he’s clueless
Inexplicably he starts with Armstrong, who I’m not sure even touched the ball. Alcaraz who at half time was man of the match contender was inexplicably subbed at half time. Then we went 3-1 up and that was the time to bring on Diallo to shore things up and the idiot brings on two forwards

Losing a 3-1 lead could be devastating

We need to play like this against Bournemouth

Sadly, the result tonight helps neither team.

Excellent performance tonight but how many times have we said that only to play badly in the next game? A point also isn't really enough. Everything depends on the other results tomorrow and midweek. We could be 6 or 7 points adrift come Thursday night.

Our problem for so long has been our mindset through games
As soon as we get a lead we try and defend it instead of killing the game off
And we can’t with what we gave we aren’t good enough to do that and it’s cost us time and again

Tall Paul chasing the ball down reminded me of a baby giraffe trying to walk for the first time

Thing is he didn’t score 70 plus goals chasing the ball down in Belgium. He got into dangerous positions in the box, people crossed the ball to him and he put it in the net. Simples

There is no reason why with the players we have at our disposal we couldn't have and should have avoided relegation,we have just been appalling mismanaged by the last two managers and the fault also lies with those that appointed them.
Jones was a disaster and Selles who I was suckered into thinking might be better after the Chelsea game has been even worse.
Last night was typical, bringing back Armstrong and Elyounoussi while Onuachu and Sulemana sat on the bench at the start.
The team has been all over the place under the last two managers, some playing well and getting dropped, some out of position etc etc.The goalkeeper should have been dropped
Arsenal were there for the taking, handing us a goal from the start and us going 3-1 up,
What a mess and should have not happened.

Tend to agree Grumpy.

I could not believe the position we were in when we went 3-1 up. We should have seen that out but not the first time we didn't (Wolves at home will stick long in the memory for all the wrong reasons). An exciting evening and great away support was tarnished by poor game management when it mattered most. I thought for the first time I may see a victory against Arsenal away! None of us could understand Alcarez going off and Diallo coming on is never a good sign - I know what the intent was but for me Diallo should not get near the team unless we are desperate - I know he has some quality but all too often he does not show it.

Just seen the goals again. Why oh why didn't one of players just jump in front of Martinelli when he was about to shoot from 30 yards for the second goal? Why didn't someone pull his shirt, tackle him, crowd him, whatever. We just stood there watching as he took aim. It's small details, but stop that goal on 88 minutes, we probably win the game.

Tall Paul needs the ball in the air NOT along the ground
