Exactly, and it's not about style of play. It's about lazy players strolling around the pitch regardless. Too many players did it last season for 3 different managers. RM needs to get them out of the club. And to be fair, he has already presented a first team at Sheff Wed, that didn't include some of the idiots who played tonight and last season. Whilst I agree that RM is correct to lay into some of the non performers - and I also agree that some of them have a limited future with us - he needs to think about his own actions a little.
We play a league game and perform moderately well in his preferred system and get a result. Yay - go us!
He then changes all 11 players for a cup game . Does that not signal to the players that he's not interested or does not see the game as having any sort of priority? If that is the case, why should the players think about it any differently?
Further, 11 new players who have probably never player together before and who are then expected to put together a performance which matches his plan. Big ask.
So yes I agree with RM that some of those on show last night were nowhere near their expected best and yes, some displayed an attitude that was below what you'd expect from a professional but equally, he could be accused of the same "crime"? | | | |

RM used last night to assess the squad in a competitive match. We will see on Saturday what his starting 11 will be. I think he deserves at least 10 or so league games before we can see how things are panning out. Lose JWP and KWP though and things will be difficult to say the least. |  |

Taking the two games together you can see what a massive task RM has with the cards he's been dealt. We beat Sheffield Wednesday courtesy of KWP, JWP, Tella and Adams all of whom want away but are professional with a generally good attitude. We have a load of players who either don't want to play or aren't good enough and need getting off the books. We are left with Bazunu, Bednarek, Stephens, Manning, Smallbone, Charles, Alcaraz, the Armstrongs, Aribo, Edozie and the youngsters to build a team around. Despite all this I'm still looking forward to the season, so much better than the drudgery of being EPL cannon fodder.. | | | |
