I think it’s a waste of time regularly getting to semi-finals and quarter-finals of Cup competitions if we are then going to chuck the game when we reach the advanced stage.

Hassenhutl’s team selection for the QF against City a couple of seasons ago still rankles with me.

Maybe last night did us a favour. Our many weaknesses were staring at the manager in his face.

He has 3 weeks to sort it to get the players in to make a serious improvement to the squad, which is wafer-thin in quality beyond the first XI.

You would like to think that the Cup would have given fringe players (although some were regulars last season), to push for a place in starting 11. Last night however, gave the impression some just do not care and are not good enough, even against div 2 sides !
