Given the average day time temperatures this is most likely to be another winter (for Europe) competition.

I'll be quite ancient in 2034 (mid/late 70's) so I suspect it will be on the TV in corner of the care home.

FIFA made a point of saying the WC would go to an Asian/Australasian side no matter what, so as the Aussies have pulled out that only leaves the Saudi's

Not sure why they pulled out but assuming the same as they pulled out of the Commonwealth games, financial, fairly obvious they couldn't compete on that front no matter what they bid

Similar to 901 I will be in my mid-70s and either dribbling in the corner of a room somewhere or dead!

I wouldn't award Saudia Arabia anything but then equally I would probably be a hypocrite and watch it if I am not doing anything else. But, who knows where the world will be in 11 years time.

It is interesting to note that increasingly many countries (especially western outlooking ones) are tending to get cold feet about hosting major events.

I think the Aussies are saying that the whole apparatus of Gov't in Saudi is backing the bid and as they have essentially bottomless pockets, they can afford to take a huge financial hit in order to project their country's image.

Everybody already knows that the Aussies are sports mad, often to point of justifying cheating, and that their country is a good place to visit so long as you don't mind the local wildlife trying to kill you.
