| Saudi Arabia have bought the 2034 World Cup - will you watch it? 13:10 - Oct 31 with 1705 views | saint901 | Saudi's latest attempts to sportswash their image has seen them awarded the 2034 World Cup. Given the average day time temperatures this is most likely to be another winter (for Europe) competition. So here we have a regime that murders journalists, suppresses rights of their own women and all migrant workers, cuts off the hands of thieves, etc. Infantino and FIFA have reached new lows here. I'll be quite ancient in 2034 (mid/late 70's) so I suspect it will be on the TV in corner of the care home. | | | | |

| Saudi Arabia have bought the 2034 World Cup - will you watch it? on 14:46 - Oct 31 with 1616 views | A1079 | Similar to 901 I will be in my mid-70s and either dribbling in the corner of a room somewhere or dead! I wouldn't award Saudia Arabia anything but then equally I would probably be a hypocrite and watch it if I am not doing anything else. But, who knows where the world will be in 11 years time. It is interesting to note that increasingly many countries (especially western outlooking ones) are tending to get cold feet about hosting major events. | | | |
| Saudi Arabia have bought the 2034 World Cup - will you watch it? on 14:48 - Oct 31 with 1615 views | Chesham_Saint | Absolute disgrace. No doubt all the pious MOTD noddies will be wringing there hands in horror....right up until they enter the first class lounge. Meanwhile good old Becks will be telling us all what a wonderful place it is to live (unless you are gay, a Christian , a Jew or indeed, a woman). | |

I think the Aussies are saying that the whole apparatus of Gov't in Saudi is backing the bid and as they have essentially bottomless pockets, they can afford to take a huge financial hit in order to project their country's image. Everybody already knows that the Aussies are sports mad, often to point of justifying cheating, and that their country is a good place to visit so long as you don't mind the local wildlife trying to kill you. | | | |
