Jeez, they have no chance with their home ground if they get CL with a 6th placed finish subject to Villa winning the Europa League tomorrow and finishing 5th - if Villa stay 4th then no 6th placed space in the CL on offer even if they win the EL tomorrow.
When you think Arsenal’s old Highbury technically didn’t meet CL spec on two counts - not enough corporate spaces and woefully inadequate parking spaces, what chance have Bournemouth got?? Arsenal were able to get away with it for a few seasons as the new stadium was in the pipeline and in Vice Chairman David Dein they had a very persuasive and well connected man fighting their case.
Should it happen, what could Bournemouth do? Come cap in hand to us, the only other south coast option would be Brighton which is a long way from Bournemouth. Not sure if Bristol City would tick all the CL boxes - the Skates dump wouldn’t, it barely scraped past the old less stringent UEFA Cup requirements. Only other alternative would be a London club not involved in European competitions, preferably in West London. Fulham would have CL corporate with the new stand but parking? The obvious West London option would be Chelsea. Bournemouth really would be in a bit of a pickle as I can’t see their home ground cutting it with UEFA. |  |
