He talks about Larin and then emphasises the need to get a "second" striker. Downs doesn't get a mention. "queue sound of Donkey braying". Damian Downs is just atrocious! He can't keep his eye on the ball. The amount of times I've seen him miss kick or even completely miss the ball is incredible for a Pro Footballer.
He is nowhere near the level required for the 1st team. Loan him out to a League one side and see how he gets on.
Stewart coming on for Larin or vice versa worked for us last season. When our forward line was AA and CA yes we had problems but since January with Larin coming in and RS on the comeback it's been great. If there is a chance for this to continue lets give him his 2 years contract. Hell we can only waste money again on the likes of DD. |  |

I have read that in articles by Daily Echo reporter Alfie House and you would assume he is the man talking to Eckert and the coaching staff on a daily basis.
If you read what I said, it says that they "Believe Downs has it in him" that is different from saying they "Believe that he will come good"
But so waht if he doesnt come good, why spit on the ground at the mere mention of his name, whilst he is a Saints player, as a supporter i truly hope that he does turn a corner and come good, Dont you ? |  |

Nowhere do I spit on the ground at the mention of his name, but plenty of fans do and I can understand why. My view is that it is highly unlikely he's radically transformed from what we saw last year into the type and quality of player we need. So I hope he gets his chance to come good somewhere else, because if he's still here he's taking up a place in the squad that could be used for someone else. Tonda works best with a small squad, so if Downs is here then someone else isn't.
I suspect that there is a difference of opinion on this between Spors and Tonda. Spors won't want to admit a recruitment error, but it's clear that Tonda doesn't see Downs included in the 2 strikers he has his eyes on. If the club force Tonda to keep him in the squad I think that will be a mistake. | | | |
