A few things from looking at today's posts. And all with a disclaimer that my opinion counts for nothing.
1. We need to give a bit of respect to Support...he and Nick are genuinely trying to fix the Ugly and I'd like to see us all give it a go. The option to make our dramatic exit is still there if it doesn't work.
2. The same goes for Nick...he's taking the time and effort to try and sort all this out. He is the Ugly Inside and after the years of fun I think that I owe him at least a chance to get it right.
3. I really think that we can all get on...or at least ignore those that we don't agree with. Like tone said, it's all a little bit surreal and serious. I've noticed that the best ways to overcome the trolls have been when humour and surreality has been used to bamboozle them. If we don't at least give people a chance then we're no better than them...and yes I know a lot of chances have been given already but this is a genuine clean slate.
That's my thoughts anyway.

The powers that be would like a quick return to normality on the UI. We have a few days grace but the last resort would be to just delete all the threads and make it very difficult to post...
However, the reasons for our move have been noted and the rather nasty atmosphere on the UI will not be tolerated in future...this goes for abuse, trolling etc.
The idea is to state the T&Cs of the network...people are all on clean slates but if they step out of line, then temporary bans will come into play.
The only way it will work is if we - as a whole - agree to play nicely and ignore the nastiness. If you have any complaints, take them up with the admin and they will look into it.
I will mention things like the very dodgy avatar as well.
Baiting people into getting them to abuse you won't go down very well either. The best answer is to put someone you can't stand on ignore. Failing that, if they kick off and get abusive or the subject matter is offensive, take it up with admin. Report it as abuse and let them know your concerns. It might be a bit of a slow start, but not getting drawn in will win out in the long run.
The admin can enforce 2 people to ignore each other as well by the way...hopefully that won't have to be used!!
I want to see the UI get back to being like it has been on here and I think we can do it. This past 2 days proves a lot. Let's reclaim the board...
Hopefully we have a few days grace anyway, so can do it at our pace.
The admins will be posting notices on here and on UI tomorrow. We need to abide by them for it to work. |

OK, been chatting to Nick...
He really would like us to go back. He is fully aware that changes need to be made and that in conjunction with the network things will happen. It is expected that the network will post something up on the Ugly later today.
The rules will be stressed and the next step for people that won't or can't abide by them will be temporary bans.
That will go for all of us...so rising to the bait, provoking responses or getting abusive will not go down very well!
On the plus side...if we show restraint and just go about our business as usual, other posters will either have to join in, ignore us or face the music.
I've been asked to post something on there as well...but will only do so if I have the backing of you lot...

Please post any ideas / concerns etc...
Mine are quite simple:
1. Ensure threads do not repeat the same points (just worded slightly differently)...or that threads become hijacked to repeat the same things.
2. Crack down on personal abuse. Become abusive and face getting banned.
3. Same again for trolling.
Most importantly, everyone makes an effort to show some respect to other posters, even if you don't agree with them or find their views odious. The ignore function does work well on the UI... |

It sounds like there will be more active policing of the UI...hopefully just to enforce the T&Cs a bit more vigorously...this will work both ways though. So provocation of our resident monkeys won't be tolerated!
