Saturday's Game In Serious Doubt

Saturday's Game In Serious Doubt?

It seems to have rained every day in Swansea for the last couple of weeks and heavily as the area gets it's traditional New Year rain. With the pitch underwater in places already it seems that another day of rain will leave the club with no alternative but to call off the fixture and add another match to the every growing backlog that we will be facing.

And of course unless a game can be arranged for Tuesday night then it will also mean that we will travel to Tranmere for the 5th round of the FA Cup without leading scorer and media darling Lee Trundle. That will be a blow to the Swans' chances of reaching the 6th round for the first time in 40 years but it will also mean that the cover for him should come in fired up - if you can't get fired up with the reward that the game will bring then when can you do so?

However, postponement of the Torquay game will also mean that it will be over four weeks between league fixtures - the Swans last game in Division 3 being the 0-0 draw with Cheltenham way back on January 17.

Work has been done on the Vetch Field pitch over the course of the last couple of days and yet persistent rain means that all work is almost made irrelevant as more rain falls from above. With no cover available to protect the pitch from the weather then is there much that we can do now to save this fixture?

So it could well be time to cross those fingers and hope that this is one of those oh so frequent times that the weather men get it wrong and tomorrow sees a mini heatwave with a nice drying breeze to get the pitch playable for Saturday. Watch for the squadron of flying pigs over Port Tenant at around 11am as well!

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that there are around 500 tickets left for the FA Cup tie at Tranmere despite earlier reports that we were down to the last 200. These will still be available to season ticket holders producing Voucher K both tomorrow and Saturday at which point an announcement will be made regarding any unsold tickets.
