Brendan Rodgers has set his sights on four more clean sheets this season which will give the Swans a Premier League record

A Clean sheet at White Hart Lane would be the 13th of the season for the Swans, two short of Fulham's record for most clean sheets for a newly promoted club in a 20 team top flight.

And with only the two Manchester clubs currently above the Swans in the clean sheet stakes you wouldn't bet against the Swans writing their name into Premier League history.

“With eight games to go, I set the players performance-related targets." Rodgers told Wales on Sunday

“And if we could get four clean sheets from our remaining eight games, we would better the record by any promoted team which is 15 by Fulham in 2002.

“The euphoria is around us for how we play the game. But that will be a brilliant stat for us to equal or beat that. It would also highlight the great defensive work the team does.

“We understand to achieve that goal what we need to do in the game in terms of blocking, screening and pressing.

“But it also helps our offensive game because when we press well, we pass well.

“When people don’t see us too much then the first thing which hits you is the way we play and the intelligence of our game.

“But when you see us consistency with the number of clean sheets, which is 12, then that defines our defensive game.

“It was a big challenge for me coming into the club. We attack with creation and imagination, but we always have tactical discipline which is very important."

And on today's game with Spurs?

“They’re a terrific side. and they have a couple of players who are world-class level in Modric and Bale.Their movement is flexible, their footballl is flexible and they’re set up to attack, while our team has risen from the Championship. On paper, the two really on paper should be a total mismatch.”
