Southampton Have Six Out For Trip To Swansea Including One New Covid Case Friday, 7th Jan 2022 11:54 Saints travel to Swansea City for the 3rd round of the FA Cup, but the squad is still decimated through injuries and Covid, for Swansea trip it won't be such of a worry, but the big game is the visit of Brentford to St Mary's on Tuesday.
Saints will be missing latest Covid victim Kyle Walker Peters for the trip to Swansea and he will miss the game against Brentford as well because of that, but he would have been suspended anyway so that is not so much of an issue.
Also out through the ravages of Covid are Che Adams and sadly Thierry Small who would surely have made his debut against the Swans.
On the injury list are Tino Livramento with fluid on the knee and also Will Smallbone with a calf concern.
Mohammed Salisu is the 6th player out through suspension for his red card against Tottenham Hotspur.

Not too many are that big of a deal as most wouldn’t have played anyway, other than maybe KWP (as he’s suspended for Brentford) and Small. I just hope they can be back in time for the Brentford game though, as Adams had Covid just before the Spurs game so should be back, but the others we’ll have to wait and see on.

Surely KWP misses the Swansea game because of suspension, regardless of injury or illness. Therefore if he is fit, negative tested and has isolated sufficiently, then why shouldn't he play against Brentford ? Does the fact he has Covid mean that he is unavailable for selection this weekend and therefore his suspension is carried forward to the next game ? If so, what is he is not fit for that either, or still has Covid ? Does the suspension continue to carry forward ? Perhaps we should ask Newcastle to clarify things for us ?

With KWP and Tino both out, who is going to get the nod at Right Back ? I would think Valery, but could be JWP, Stephens, S Armstrong ? Or play a back 3 with Wing Backs ?

Nah TimSaint KWP is only suspended for league games as he got 5 yellow cards in the league, so is suspended for one league game, so could’ve played tomorrow if he hadn’t of gotten Covid (although now he’s got it, he was unlikely to play on Tuesday anyway)

It´s day 11 today (jan.8.) since Che was covid positive, so hopefully he is through it before the Brentford game 3 days from now.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Southampton Polls |
