Brighton Midfielder To Decide Between Southampton And Feyenoord Monday, 5th Aug 2024 13:29 Saints quest for more options out wide has been gaining momentum as the season grows nearer, the latest reports suggests that there is a choice to be made for one of our targets. sportswitness.co.uk have been reporting that Southampton are trying to hijack Feyenoord's loan move for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Facundo Buonanotte. Before the weekend media outlets in the Netherlands were reporting that the Dutch club and Brighton had agreed the terms of the deal that would see the winger move to Rotterdam for the season. Now they are saying that Southampton are entering the fray for the 19 year Argentinian international, who played 27 games for the Seagulls last season, scoring 3 goals plus an assist. Able to play even as an attacking midfielder in the centre or as a right winger, he certainly fits the bill that Russell Martin looks for in a player. Brighton do not want to sell Buonanotte permanently, he has played fairly regularly since arriving from Rosario Central in his native Argentina in January 2023 and has 40 Premier League games to his name scoring 4 times with 2 assists. Brighton signed him for just £5 million and his value since has more than tripled. But it is said that with a new manager at the club in Fabian Hürzeler and with two central midfielders and two wingers already arrived at the club in this summers transfer window, game time will be limited for Buonanotte will be limited so Brighton would prefer him to go on loan. The reports go on say that it is now down to the player and his agent to sort out whether he want to go to Southampton or Feyenoord. They continue that Brighton would favour the player joining Feyenoord where he would play in the Champions League and challenge for domestic honours, but he would stand a better chance of being a regular started at St Mary's and Buonanotte and his camp are ‘facing a crucial week’, and this would indicate a decision could be made in the next few days.
