![]() Wednesday, 1st Apr 2009 17:48 Now Shearer's in at St James, where will this leave little Dennis? Dennis Wise is reportedly facing the boot in his role as Executive Director at Newcastle United. Nearly 15 months after quitting Leeds for the bizarre role as part of the Toon's London-based behind-the-scenes staff, the feeling is it will be sooner rather than later Wise severes his connections with Newcastle. The former Leeds-boss, who took the club to relegation to League One in 2006/07 is hated by the Newcastle faithful who label him as part of a "cockney mafia" they believe to be responsible for the embarrassing state of their club. In their desperation to avoid "doing a Leeds", they have turned to legend Alan Shearer in the hope that he can save them from a potentially fateful relegation to the Championship. Newcastle are third from bottom, two points from safety and arguably have a tougher run-in than their relegation rivals. Shearer's appointment must have led to quite a few people waking up this morning and checking the April 1st date. I understand he had snubbed the chance in the past to become Newcastle boss, because like the fans he is a critic of the Mike Ashley regime and could not envisage working with Ashley. His change of heart will lead many to believe that Shearer has said the likes of Wise must go. However, like many Leeds fans, it would be a treble worth celebrating here....Wise signing on for Jobseekers Allowance....Newcastle getting relegated......and looking forward to taking six-points off them next season in the Championship like in the good old days!
