Didn't have the best season but he's only young and will improve, would he be a worthwhile signing I'm not too sure but our midfielders are getting old rather quickly Barton, oneil, Henry, faurlin, jenas there not going to be around for much longer so would Carroll be worth signing or would you prefer to see another centre mid join the club?

Poll: Who is better Barkley or wilshere

I always think the idea that the prem is somehow easier for certain players than the level below is a myth. Some players might look better in the prem because they try harder when challenged, but I've always felt this idea that you 'get more time' in the Prem to be absolute nonsense. Everything is faster, teams press more, players are quicker. If you can't cut it in the Championship you definitely won't in the Prem. Not saying LTC won't become a good player - i think he's a real prospect. Would I buy him now? Hmm... much as I want us to look forwards, I don't think so.

Bare bones.

The 'he'll be better in the Prem' argument is a strange one. By that reasoning, the fact I'm a pretty poor Sunday League player due to the heavy kickings you takes means I could also do a job at a low professional level. Makes no sense at all.

I'd be looking at more experienced Championship players from Wigan, Derby, Forest and Reading over Carroll. Too lightweight, goes walkies when playing deep and doesn't have a natural position. I like his enthusiasm for the ball though.

If and a big If he was available for say around 2 million then it may be worth a punt
Levy being Levy I cannot see it and we would end up paying well over the odds for a player who lets face it flatters to deceive
I would be looking for someone like colback at Sunderland who is on a free and someone who would run his nuts off which would help Barton no end
I also think Livermore would be a better shout or Holtby

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Redknapp gave Carroll plenty of opportunities then dropped him as soon as we got to the business end of the season. Get rid.

No.

In a couple of years he will be playing league 1 football at best.

Sentiment here is a little harsh. He doesn't always pass sideways, he was one of the only players we have who can make an incisive pass forwards without lumping it in randomly.

Not that I want him. He'd be like a worse Granero. More expensive because he's English too.

Might still develop, 22 isn't old, but he lacks competitive matches – the same as many young players with Premier League clubs. Can we take that risk with a 25 man roster? This isn't just a Tom Carroll problem. We want youth in the side, but we don't want the mistakes young players are bound to make as they develop.

My thoughts were that we've seen what the Premiership does to players like Granero, the idea that it's easier is nonsense.
It looks easier because they are better, fitter, faster and they practise what they do.
Tom Carroll couldn't keep his place in this QPR side whilst in the Championship, we played Wigan probably the most Premiership-like side in the League and Harry correctly settled for O'Neil.
The lad is doing all the right things but he's just not strong enough...that's all it is, he cannot establish the right to play his Football in the game....he'd get eaten alive!
His peers are Jordan Henderson, Ross Barkley, Wilshire, Aaron Ramsey ( a little older but many injuries), Ravel Morrisson, James Ward Prowse, Anton Townsend, I cannot see the comparison frankly, bigger, stronger, all change the results of Football Matches.
Do not buy or even loan!

I'd take him for anything up to 5. I think he will be a quality midfielder, just got a bit of growing and gym time to be done first. His vision and ball retention is class, he has made more passes per game than anyone else in the division. So often without him nobody brings the ball out of defence and moves the team forward. Joey is very direct and has a tendency to launch fourty yard hollywood balls, often into touch. He needs to be balanced with someone just as busy who will keep the ball moving and retain possession which will be vital if we aren't going to spend the whole season under the cosh.

It depends on what part he plays in our group of Central midfielders. There needs to be a proper bit of forethought this summer into how we're going to play and how a particular player can add to that.

Am I right that currently we've got Barton and Henry on contracts and O'Neill is a loan?

If that's the case we should take Carroll or O'Neil but not both. If you add in the possibility of Faurlin coming back we'd be in danger of going into next season with almost the same midfield in a squad of 25 when really we need at least one new, powerful, competent CM - a Wanyama type.

I've just read that we submitted a bid for Tom Cleverley on Tuesday and Manure have "rejected our first offer".

He's 22, not 14. He ain't going to get any bigger or stronger. Too lightweight and even HR eventually worked that out. I doubt Spurs will renew his contract when it expires.
