He isn't physically slow, he isn't sharp enough to anticipate where the ball is going and gets caught flat footed. His acceleration isn't the best but he is quick enough at full pelt.
If you are bringing him on to win you a game, you are pissing in the wind. If you just want him to occupy defenders, as we did today, he can do that.

The only thing I can say in Gomis' defence is that he should have won at least two free kicks for his efforts, probably with accompanying yellows, but the Ref bottled it completely.
