Sandy lane 12:45 - Nov 11 with 4666 views | 1949er | Having publicly stated I will not be dictated to with regard to the opening or not of the Sandy Lane end, I wonder if the players have been asked their preference whether they would rather play to an empty stand or one containing several hundred supporters.

Somebody your age is that childish and petulant about which stand you go in at the ground? Even if it's in the best interest of the club you obviously love? You need to have a word with yourself.

Sandy lane on 14:15 - Nov 11 with 3156 views | BrighouseDale | I suppose if the Sandy is being closed, cost might be an issue for those on a tight budget. I know it's only a couple of quid but for some households every little bit counts. Could the club reduce the cost of entry in seated areas to allow for this?

It's two quid less to get in the Main Stand for this game than it is to get in The Sandy on a normal league match day.

Well done you to still stand in the Sandy in your 70's!! Rest your weary legs and take a seat in the Main Stand........it's so much more comfy. PS>>>I'm a Sandy stander too.

What principles are they then? Let me get this right you can watch the same match with a better view for less money and you get to sit down(normally dearer) rather than stand up all game and you think that's a problem? Just wow.....

I'm far from a genius but I'll enlighten you a little, it's a *better view when elevated than at pitch level and even more so from a side position as both nets are relatively equidistant, don't let that get in the way of your little protest though... *That is unless you're inspector gadget with go go gadget eyes....

Of course, but the club are trying to keep costs down and your stance (pardon the pun) makes little sense. I sit in the TDS Stand and would rather stay there, but I'll move to the Main Stand as it will enable me to watch the game. Making a song and dance about it on here isn't going to change things.
| When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf? |

Have found the seats in the main stand rather cramped in comparison to the ones the Pearl Street end when have used them in the past.

I'd have to agree with you unless you happen to be in the posh black ones, tbf both sets of seats in each stand are pretty cramped...

I wouldn't say they were any more cramped than at any other ground - in fact, some grounds are worse The seats in the stand behind the nets at Bradford are horrendous On another note - I suspect if 1949er gave the Main Stand a try, he'd feel right at home... #mainstandmoaner [Post edited 11 Nov 2016 16:32]

Bradford behind the goal. Luton as well. And I seem to remember Crewe's seats having a penchant for shaving shins too.

So the club are expecting less than this to turn up. Better arrive early and get in if you want to get seats together as would have thought that by 7.30, would be limited. Can see this decision causing problems in the night.

Sandy lane on 22:49 - Nov 11 with 2226 views | D_Dale | Picking up 1949er's point about the players' view on attacking the goals in front of an empty stand, hasn't it been the case for decades that when Dale captains win the toss they almost invariably chose to play towards the Sandy Lane in the second half? It's been said that allows the team to play 'down the slope' in the second half (though I'm doubtful that there is much of a slope, if any). My impression is that when visiting captains win the toss, they seem to show no preference. But I reckon - though I've no stats to back it up - that Dale have over the seasons scored more goals at the Sandy Lane end. As well as the lower admission charge, some fans think they see more goals close to in the Sandy.
