Happen, Happened 14:56 - Feb 15 with 3360 views | borntogo | I didn't go to the match last night because what I had fully expected to happen, happened. In other words, we'd play with a defensive mindset in the hope of securing a 'well-earned' draw or, at best, sneaking a win. And then we'd lose. Hill has stubbornly employed this tactic to no avail every time we've played away a 'big' club. If it's going to have a chance of succeeding you need width and pace and your 'get out' ball has to be played to a player with pace (think: Mendez-Laing) rather than an out-of-form, old-timer like Henderson. I know we're missing three very good players in Lund, Davies and Bunney but so is everyone else at this stage of the season. Our strength is in going for it, attacking, so why do we play to our weakness in these sort of games?
Happen, Happened on 15:23 - Feb 15 with 3294 views | Daley_Lama | Yes, there was a defensive mindset first half. Second half however, we played with much more composure. The formation is the same as we have adopted all season, 4-1-4-1. We had the better (only?) chances in the second half, i can't recall them creating anything other than set pieces/throws into the box which we coped well with. (Apart from the goal obviously) What happened was we played a good side and didnt deserve to lose. While not taking the result, i will take the performance and the tactics adopted. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good narrative though? Honestly, anyone would think you were there!

Interesting how people see formations differently! I'd always say our usual formation this season has been 4-3-3, but for the past few matches it's switched to 4-1-2-3 with Raff being the 1.

Happen, Happened on 07:26 - Feb 16 with 2564 views | 442Dale | We were definitely playing a diamond in midfield at Bolton. It reset itself everytime we were out of possession and there was some flexibility when we had the ball but it was a diamond nontheless. Rafferty at the base, Thompson right central, Allen left central, Rathbone at the top. It was a front two of Henderson and Calvin but one which appeared lopsided when one would pull wide - Calvin on the left a lot. It was very noticeable when Bolton had the ball deep in their half. You are pretty much correct there imo, I called it as a 4-1-3-2 but very similar to the diamond. I would say the advanced 1 of the diamond wasn't as advanced, hence my referral to it as 4132.
