Pins in new shirts. There used to be about 10 of the little buggers. You could never be entirely sure you’d found all of them.

89 percent of milk sales were done via doorstep delivery in the 1980s. By 2014-15 it had dropped to 3 percent.

What? You didn't bother to find out -so that you can tell us, and we can all go - to the restaurant chain that uses meat that no one else wants?

Fu(king capitalism!

Although I'm sure you know :-) all the scraps and bones are used for making stocks and gravies etc

And yes, it willc ome as a shock to some that these things don't only exist in granule form.

I never understood the cotton handkerchief. Blow your nose and then put it back in your pocket with keys and coins. Grim.

I still use cotton handkerchieves on a daily basis but your comment is certainly food for thought!

The paper ones are a real menace if they manage to sneak into the washing machine grrrrr.

Some of the things we used to eat were pretty dire. Anyone remember Telfers meat pies and Lyons individual fruit pies ? The latter had a layer of fruit paste and about three quarters of an inch of fresh air between the paste and the lid. However, when washed down with a Lemonillo, it didn't seem so bad.

Dum Dum Dum Esso Blue, yes the paraffin delivery man who used to drive round in a bowser and deliver paraffin to your door, as a kid it was my job to keep the paraffin heaters in our house 'topped up' (or no pocket money)

Pineapple chunks.

living down here in the sticks I still wonder if Petticoat Lane Market is still on the go? used to love going there on a Sunday watching all the traders up to no good.

Used to get threepence from the pub for each of me Dads empty beer bottles, as a kid you weren't allowed in the pub in them days there was a hatch on the side of the pub and you had to bang on the hatch and annoy the miserable fcking barman.

Winkle picker shoes.

Anyway enough of this bollox my Aunt Bessie's crinkle cut chips are nearly ready.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

That reminds me of my first trip to Turkey in 1987. I was sat on a bench on the sea front in Izmir. A bloke sat next to me and he asked me ' what do you think of my country?' I explained that I liked it and the locals were very friendly but I can't get used to everyone spitting all the time ......(having dragged up huge greenies). The bloke then said ' we think you foreigners are strange as you blow your nose into a tissue and put in in your pocket like you collect it'...... he had a point I guess.

The locals weren't so friendly the next day at the England game.
