Didn't Milner appear in those (invited)? sprint finals on TV and think everyone perhaps stood up and noticed at the time. Does anyone recall his 100 metre time btw. as seem to think he did well?
Perhaps (originally) being a rugby union player - must have been a winger - so perhaps he was good over those (slightly) longer distances.
No doubting there's others we've had who were electric over those first 10-20 yards and remember Buckley doing a few take-me-ons after kicking the ball down the line.
