Her impact is extraordinary. There’s never been anything like it even if the scramble by politicians to be associated with her does leave a taste of sick in the back of my throat.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Yeah. They're very concerned, fair play.

Well, he does actually have a point as this Psychologist points out.

I have always thought that Depression, Self Harming & Anorexia were classed as Mental Illnesses.

This autistic child appears to have been scared witless by Climate Alarmism.

Any human with any compassion should fell very sorry and very worried about her.

There is an interesting discussion here around the impact of the fear of what we’re doing to our climate/environment. Increasingly discussing it in apocalyptic terms (as per Extinction Rebellion’s approach) is bound to worry teenagers. Much like nuclear apocalypse fears affected those of us who grew up under the shadow of the Cold War. I doubt that discussion will take place though.

Is it OK to be broadly in favour of humanity being significantly less damaging/wasteful and more than a little uncomfortable with the way Thunberg is being paraded around the World by people seeking political capital?

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I think Malala was the last one they flocked around. I'm not sure who the next one will be though.

I fail to believe there is a single Trader in the City (who now intends to open his own Fintech company) that believes "Capitalism has failed". Unless he means that he got zero bonus in teh last couple of years.

Well, quite, that was the point I was making...it is f*cking unbelievable isn't it, yet he does exist and it isn't a Fintech company it is in fact an aerospace company which has a pretty good chance of making him and his partners very wealthy (based on what I know).

...but you see, that is the narrative being peddled every day in our media and by the political parties of the left (which is another reason that I have left the Lib Dems and won't be going back).
The power of propaganda.

There was another guest at our party from London who was getting quite passionate, shall we say, on the subject of Brexit....he ran with the same narrative; "Capitalism isn't working, we're killing the planet, we need to abolish nation states and have a Global Government..." etc.
This bloke is quite a different character from our friend though, not nearly as bright (the latest boyfriend of my wife's friend, who is bright but also signs up to all this shite...anyway, I digress).
He started the evening claiming he was a Communist, then denied he ever said that as his arguments crumbled and his piss poor grasp of history was exposed, preferring to switch from a defence of Communism to Climate change and a pro EU/anti-Boris/anti-austerity etc. stance...
...the next morning he tried to apologise for being so "aggressive" with his arguments (I didn't even notice) and I said "not at all mate, no need to apologise we are all allowed to disagree and argue for what we believe in, I will never be offended" etc.

Later that day he told me about his personal circumstances. It emerged that he had been involved in an awful marriage breakdown that left him in the position of not being able to see his children (fought for access in the courts, using legal aid) and now had a council flat in London which he had lied to obtain, was now sub-letting to his mate illegally, and intending to purchase it then sell it for a cool £250,000 profit in the next 2 years.
All told without a hint of embarrassment and seemingly unable to join up the dots that, well, living in a Capitalist country seems to be working for him.
