Some weird Championship ones I would have loved us to sign: Tommy Rowe Wade Elliott Chris Hope Clive Mendonca
Nahki Wells used to be on this list
Peter Whittingham as a championship one for me, not weird as he was bloody good though Used to think that about Rob Hulse, always rated him James Henry - think when he was at Millwall and Wolves, thought he'd be great for us
In terms of players I liked even though they played for teams I didnt, Eidur Gudjohnsen, no idea why. Just felt he was classier than playing for our neighbours.

Weirdly 2 of those were my first 2 players i thought of, Peter Whittingham( RIP) and James Henry. Mainly because James used to live on my estate and i did a bit of work for him and ive currently got his wardrobe that my daughter uses..lol Peter Whittingham was a class player. Steve Sidwell i rated and thought he was QPR material.
Occasional providers of half decent House music.

His TV persona is excruciating, but Jimmy Bullard was a tremendous player. Don Goodman always gave everything each time he played. Heresy perhaps, but I always enjoyed watching David Speedie as a pantomime villain.

Although Rangers through and through since the 50's, I used to travel from Harlesden station to White Hart Lane to watch Jimmy Greaves play for Tottenham. The man was a footballing genius. In those days you didn't know who was playing until the team was announced in the ground and on the few times Greaves was not playing I left the ground and made my way home having no interest In Spurs or who they were playing.
The only other player I wanted to see was Henrik Larsson of Celtic and when they came to the Bush for a pre season friendly he didn't disappoint, scoring as I was putting my bum down on my seat in the Lower Loft right at the start of the game.
Other players I like, James Milner, Kevin de Bruyner, Marcus Alonso and David Silva.

Even though he was playing for that lot I loved watching Michael Essien when he returned from his ACL injury. He had this permanent smile on his face like he was so glad to be back playing football, taking nothing for granted and living for the moment. It was a joy to see. It’s the smile we’re all going to have when we’re back at Loftus Road. Admittedly for some of us it will be an inner smile with the same grumpy exterior but it will be there.
Btw: the thought of schlepping across London all the way to Spurs, hearing Greavesie wasn’t in the line-up, and immediately fcuking off is hilarious.

Wes Hoolahan. I think we tried to get him but there were contract issues and he went to Blackpool instead. Very creative and would have fitted in well with the Rs team at the time.
Martin Cranie. We had him on loan for a handfull of games and I was disappointed that we didn't sign him permanently. Versatile, good on the ball, dependable and a cut above most players we had on the payroll.

Martin broke his leg with us and was never the same for any club after as far as I remember.

He's gone on to play 330 odd games mostly at Championship level since. Perhaps not with the same promise he showed before the leg break. At the time I thought he defintely looked the business.
