The EU’s numbers show that the prevalence of deaths in UK care homes is comparatively lower as a percentage than in other European countries. Guido brings you the comparison: Spain 66% Norway 61% (including out of hospital settings) Belgium 51% Sweden 50% France 50% Germany 37% UK 21% In the UK, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, 21% deaths have occurred in care homes as of last week’s statistics, far below most EU counterparts. This rather undermines Starmer’s political argument that care homes are primarily to blame for the UK’s relatively high Covid-19 mortality rate…

The funny thing about all of the previous global pandemics: Typhus, Smallpox, the Black Death, Spanish Flu etc, is that one day they just went away. Such are the mysteries of life and death. None of those were a coronavirus, all six corona virus we have had up to covid19 have been with us for as long as man has been on the planet, they didn't disappear, in fact there is a theory that these viruses were probably just as deadly originally but weakened over time to become no more than colds. Typhus and small pox didn't disappear they were eradicated with vaccines. Flu has been rendered much less harmful with vaccines.

My 75 year old Dad volunteered for the Trial/scheme they are running in Southampton. He had some test and they have said he cant take part as he has anti-bodies so he has already had it. Over xmas new year most of my family had some sort of 'cold' of varying degree's so I think more people have had it then we think. Back in May he had the test to see if he had it but that was negative , but that's a different test. I know its not certain you cant catch it again but knowing he has had it and prob most of my family has too is a weight off the mind.
