"Southampton have no shortage of academy graduates to be proud of.

The youth set-up at Staplewood has produced Matt Le Tissier, Alan Shearer, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gareth Bale.

And it has also contributed to Ralph Hasenhuttl's current side with Jack Stephens and James Ward-Prowse both climbing the ranks to the first team. And the likes of Michael Obafemi and Will Smallbone are both waiting in the wings to become stars themselves.

So who is the next big thing to roll off the production line? Please welcome, Goran Babic.

The 17-year-old central midfielder has been named on the Guardian's illustrious 'Next Generation' list for 2020 which identifies 20 of the very best teenage talents at Premier League clubs each season.

The Serbian-born wonderkid made the step up to full-time training with the club's Under-18s side back in September and has continued to impress during his early season performances. Like any Saints academy graduate, you can guarantee that he is bursting with technical ability.

Babic loves a tackle and, above all, he loves to win. There are shades of James Ward-Prowse about him in the set-piece execution and the way that he picks up the ball and drives at the opposition box."

Signing foreign players for the academy will be difficult from next season as they wont qualify for work permits from the EU

Serbia is not in the European Union at the moment so is not subject to any UK/EU work permit arrangements. The EU have thus far refused them joining because of their part in the Balkan crisis in the 90's and continued ethic division in parts of Bosnia and neighbouring Kosovo.
