Pompey get the festive period off... thanks to Covid 01:29 - Dec 21 with 1700 views1885_SFC

3 players have now tested positive (as of Sunday night) which means no football over Xmas for our near neighbours. Others are self-isolating.

They could watch some Premiership football on the tele if they wanted as they probably can't remember what that's like

Indeed

Covid Tier 3 and Football Tier 3

They haven't been in the Prem for ten and a half years, meaning that you would have to be at least what, 16 or 17 years old to have remembered them, or seen them in the top flight. This season is their 9th consecutive season in the bottom two divisions.

More cases at Little Pompey:

"Their first game of 2021 is scheduled to see them go to Accrington on January 2.
But with more cases being detected all the time there are now real fears about the prospect of the season being suspended."

https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/portsmouth-fc/breaking-portsmouth-co

Obviously, as 130 has pointed out, the special "worzel friendliness" at Little Pompey makes them more susceptible than other places but, surely, it's only a matter of time before there are major outbreaks at bigger clubs. You have to wonder how much longer football can continue as the situation now is worse than it was the last time it was stopped.

I think there will be a major concern involving potential spikes in a few week's time, when the 3rd round of the FA Cup takes place. Prem players who are tested regularly, will be up against lower league opposition, who are tested a lot less regularly by their clubs, if at all !!

I wonder if clubs may have to forfeit games, as Leyton Orient had to with their bumper Carabao / League Cup tie against Spurs, earlier this season.

Well, it's happened now and Man City have played Saints, Arsenal and Newcastle in the last 9 days. If they've spread it, that will be half the Premier League fixtures wiped out over the next couple of weeks. With all our injuries, a suspension of the league wouldn't be such a bad thing though.

If there is a spike, they should halt the football for a month or so and then reschedule during the pointless international breaks to make up time.

I’m sure the bigger clubs would be all over it, especially Klopp as it will give him time to bring a replacement in for Van Dijk (RIP).

could they not use the spikes to mount the heads of skate players along the M27, great tourist attraction. Will also feed the gulls.

And the White Knight is talking backwards And the Red Queen's off with her head
