Watch CNN now on 22:45 - Jan 6 by kingslandstand1 | Surely his "Let's go to Capitol Hill" speach was potentially inciting what happened? |
Of course it was. There's also talk of him being impeached again, but that's unlikely to happen too.

Watch CNN now on 22:42 - Jan 6 by DorsetIan | Do you really think so? I'm guessing that while he is still President in name, if he tried to do anything significant at this stage, others would then step in. |
No, I was joking but often when a leader is under threat, he starts a war. One of Trump's overriding personality traits, however, is his cowardice. He would not do anything which might place him in danger and a nuclear war certainly would. Mind you, he had an army of men at the White House employed to protect him from coronavirus and he still caught it. He probably should go to jail but will spend the remainder of the money his daddy left him, employing the best legal team that money can buy to keep him out of it. [Post edited 6 Jan 2021 22:52]

I agree. Despite all his bluster, at heart he's a total loser. If he keeps his current legal team, I think we can be pretty hopeful!

Its clear to all that Trump is a complete megalomaniac with a serious personality disorder. What is frightening is so many Americans can't recognise it. I just hope the country can reunite after he's gone. If it doesn't then a weak fragmented America is not good for us.

What a sad, bitter, divisive, delusional, individual, "Greatest First Term in Presidential History !" Trump releases statement committing to "orderly transition" President Trump has just released a statement committing to "an orderly transition on January 20th" but repeating his unsubstantiated claims of electoral fraud. “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th," he said, in a comment published on his spokesperson's Twitter account. Twitter has temporarily blocked the president from using his own account. "I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!" he added. More than 60 legal cases by Trump's campaign team challenging the November result have failed. bbc.co.uk Trump blocked by Twitter and Facebook The US president is blocked from Twitter for 12 hours and Facebook for 2

Watch CNN now on 21:15 - Jan 7 with 817 views | DorsetIan | In all the brouhaha yesterday evening, the fact that the Republicans lost control of the Senate earlier in the day, fell right down the new agenda. But longer term, that is hugely significant in terms of what Biden will be able to do i.e. much much more. The other thing that crossed my mind is that all these MAGA nutters storming the Capitol: I can understand that they are very unhappy, impoverished and disenfranchised and so 'mad as hell and not going to take this any more', and it wouldn't be quite so mad if they were following some sort of Robin Hood figure who only has their interests at heart. But they are all following Trump, one of the most self-obsessed, self-interested and personally corrupt people you could ever imagine. That's the dumbest part of the whole thing. Or the cleverest con.

What is more frightening, is that the acquisition of wealth in the USA seems to facilitate disregard for the boundaries that support legality, fairness and common decency in favour of selfish indulgence. The Republican Party representatives mostly seem to endorse the attitude that in America, you should have the freedom to do what you like if you have the money to buy it, and protect you from the consequences. Trump is simply the most recent, least attractive representative of this (apart from the fart bag Giulliani). Of course, the UK is not without its high profile representatives in this arena, Robert Maxwell, Phillip Green, Mohamed Al-Fayed. I have a lifelong friend who, in the time I have known him has migrated from ardent socialist, to Liberal, to ardent Trump supporter as his business and wealth has grown. Now, their is nothing wrong with changing your opinions as you gain more experience of life, and we are all prone to do so in relation to the specifics of our own lives. But when it is driven by greed for money or power, or self indulgence, it can come across as somewhat ugly. No, I am not bitter. Haha
