England V Germany Matchday Thread on 17:35 - Jun 29 with 568 views | Berber | Kane needs to stop jogging about a metre or two off the movement. He is making it far too easy for their defenders to nullify him, and he isn't doing anything on the press.

England V Germany Matchday Thread on 17:14 - Jun 29 by dirk_doone | He plays two average journeymen, Rice and Phillips, against a top class team like Germany when we have Grealish and Foden available. At least he's picked Saka and Shaw so there is some hope. |
Kane is looking an isolated figure up front. We know he scores goals for fun - so why not play Grealish to supply Kane with the ammunition? Other than the lively Sterling, we're looking pretty ineffective in the final third.

Kane finally showed up for the last 5 minutes of the half but you have to wonder why the likes of Grealish and Foden are sitting just watching. We got what everyone expected with that line up, no goals.

Several free kick opportunities that James Ward Prowse would have relished, but of course we get the third rate efforts from Shaw and Trippier. I know I'm biased, but I think Ings would have contributed far more than that donkey Kane.

It reminded me of Saints' first half in the FA Cup semi-final v Leicester. The pundits seem to be pleased that we have achieved a 0-0 half-time score. This isn't a particularly good German side. Bring on Grealish and Foden and we can win this but if Gareth brings on his favourites, Mount and Rashford, it's going to be a lot more difficult. [Post edited 29 Jun 2021 18:00]

England V Germany Matchday Thread on 17:58 - Jun 29 with 502 views | 1885_SFC | Well so far, we're getting the exact England that I thought we would. Southgate is petrified of Werner's pace. I think we'll see a much better England if we go behind & the likes of Grealish and Foden get straight on the pitch. Not holding my breath though. Southgate is still Southgate...

It’s very much like watching Saints Safe sideways backwards and not very inventive

The in-form striker, Calvert-Lewin, is not even on the bench.

It's been enough. He played his part in the goal. Is Ward-Prowse the only player in Europe who can score direct from free-kicks? They all just seem to hit them into the wall, [Post edited 29 Jun 2021 18:38]

But the quarter finals await. England are getting the job done, despite everyone slagging off the manager on here! Hopefully we can hold out. As I said yesterday, one nil will do.

Grealish does it again and, thank God, Southgate didn't bring on Rashford for Kane.

To be fair, he did the right thing and brought on Grealish, not Mount or Rashford. He's learning.

Keep it tight in the first half, bring on Grealish in the 2nd to win it. All part of the plan. I said it before, there may be a method to the madness. England have a great chance of getting to the final. [Post edited 29 Jun 2021 18:48]
