Ok it’s great England have got to a final but Jesus wept. 24 hour news coverage and people saying it’s life changing or the best thing ever to happen to this country. Get a grip ffs.

You're the reason why Labour is lost and why we're unelectable, even when it smacks you on the snout you still can't see it.
The liberal elite are Jones, Blair, Starmer, Mandelson, Clegg, Thornberry, Milliband, they haven't a clue about their supposed heartlands and core support hence why they're getting trounced.

The 'liberal elite' is also Southgate and the England team and, as you have yourself observed, they are managing to unite the country behind them.

You should have a good think about your use of 'we'. The Labour Party has always been a party of progressive ideas. I'd say you were more a 'GB News' type chap. They like a bit of woke bashing on there. You would love it.

Woke bashing? Anyway, nothing wrong with trying to unite the Country, its a positive and the only people who'll lose are the parasites who profit from division and identity politics. Progressive? Since when has the Labour Party been progressive? And what is progressive? Sweeping wrongs under the carpet for the supposed greater good whilst taking the core of the party for granted?

I'm genuinely interested as Ian from Dorset is cute and fluffy, you're not same as someone from the North of England and don't pretend that your grievances are the same politically, they're miles apart.

I’m the reason Labour lost? I think you will find that was down to Jeremy Corbyn. I actually voted Labour for the first time ever but unfortunately people didn’t like him or his policies. So don’t blame me. Blair got Labour elected. Starmer is Labour’s best bet at getting back in. People don’t want Left policies. They want liberal policies. I don’t know where get get “elite” from? This is a conservative country and the only way to get elected is to appeal to the middle of the road. You couldn’t be more middle of the road than Starmer. You might not like it but people here don’t like extremists. We just want a nice quiet comfortable existence so we can hate our country in peace.

I’ve gotta say Soggsy, you do make me smile. Corbyn was the first time you’d voted Labour? What were you before that, Revolutionary Workers’Party or the Popular Front for Tooting?

You've got a pretty patronising attitude both to the people of Dorset and to those, like me, from the North.

Yes, it makes a change to have a country united. Your 'culture warrior' mates have done their level best to divide and rule over the last few years.

Quite possibly the first and last post you've written, compared to the usual driven its positively Keats or Shakespeare.
Centrist politics (social democracy) is the only way forward but in case you didn't realise your nation hating woke lot won't let Corbyn (who I admire) and Palestine go, that's unpalatable to the core northern vote who are actually proud to be English (whether its a defensive gesture do to with the fact of immigration. globalisation and industrial decline is for scholars) and without them we're going nowhere, London and privileged few simply don't understand this or don't want to, they'd rather virtue signal and be anti semitic.

Another bizarre post Barry. This stuff drove you off another site but you won’t let it go. You are like a dog with a bone. Where is this evidence for all of this nation hating you keep talking about? I have said it to you hundreds of times, but what you perceive of nation hating is actually rabid nationalistic hating. They are two very different things, just as being anti Semitic and pro Palestinian are two very different things. As Ian said though, you are descending into Lawrence Fox territory so I’ll leave you to it. I’m off to iron my flag.

So you disagree the northern core has and was turned of by the relentless wokism, Palestine and London domination of Labour?
If you do you're out of touch, there are now 2 Labour parties, its sad but its true, the old traditional one of socialism and the new identity politics one that comes out of London, Corbyn tried to span it but failed, he knew his Achilles was the EU, now we've Sir Keith Starmer who's a centrist remainer and it'll be the same thing, he has nothing in common with the core.
I go to areas of the North that are so forgotten it would embarrass you and rough, well you probably wouldn't believe it, these places have nothing in common with the south and their right on centrist's, it maybe be the way to power or the only way but these place are long way from voting Labour. The EU vote showed you that.

This is not new. Have you forgotten New Labour? Old Labour is stuck in the past. Until the old part catches up with the new it will struggle to get elected again.

I really don't want to be rude but I can't engage with this.

It's so old news. And, yes, I've been to Hartlepool, and they don't all hang monkeys up there.

But the great dispossessed of The North or anywhere else have got a nasty shock coming if they think that salvation lies with Boris Johnson or Priti Patel.

Gareth Southgate will lead us out of the darkness.

The only way that will happen is if the new part embraces things the old part, like the St George cross, the nation and the concerns of life changing too fast without any consent or say in the matter.
