So when the inevitable injuries arrive, we don't have anyone good enough in the squad to cover. This desperate attempt to turn Djenepo into a left back, because there isn't anyone else is embarrassing. Here's hoping the clear out means some players in-coming. Ralph is far from stupid. He knows he needs another full back but do we have the funds for him? Williams was too expensive. Will Ralph be supported or will he be expected to create a winning team without the required resources? The worry is that he played Djenepo at left back to see if he could do a job there, knowing money is desperately tight. [Post edited 24 Jul 2021 22:02]

Djenepo‘s got most praise when he‘s got in the faces of opposition players, harried them, fallen over and won fouls. He’s got energy and he works hard at doing that, being a right irritant to opposing teams. He’s been far more effective at that than in creative or attacking play.
But he is just too undisciplined and insecure on the ball to actually play as a defender. It may be that as well as trying to find someone who can cover at LB, Ralph was trying to find a role for Djenepo. But he’s wasting his time even thinking about it.
For me, Djenepo either steps up to role of attacking winger or he doesn’t, and personally I’ve seen enough. And if the jury is still out on him, send him on a six month loan to the Championship and see if he can impress at that level. No room for passengers this season. | |

He isn't a left back though. We are putting him there out of desperation as another possible option because we don't have the money to provide Ralph with a proper squad of players. Ok, there is time yet and we may still get some squad players in, but we won't hold our breath under our terrible owner Gao. Valery too isn't up to it either as right back. We are again heading into a season without the required cover squad players.
As for Djenepo, I have seen him play some good games but he shouldnt be left back imo. He is a useful squad player but let's get a proper cover left back, rather than keep swapping Djenepo! [Post edited 25 Jul 2021 0:35]

Bertrand hasn't been interested for the last two seasons, but Targett always gave 100% and put in some better crosses than Bertrand when ever he was given a chance.
No doubt Bertrand will be putting in some real effort and smiling his face off now he's away from the club that saved his career. | | | |
