Le Tissier Blog 14:40 - Jun 21 with 2702 viewsSaintNick

Saw a blogger who did an interview with Matthew Le Tissier regarding his sacking from Sky and his recent thoughts on the World etc.

I havent watched all of it only a couple of 6-7 minute clips, in those he gave reasonably logical reasoning as to his views etc and why he holds them

It is up there on You tube now cant remember the name though but I am sure it comes up fairly easily if you search his name

Even on a personal social media account which states “views are my own”, and they weren’t abusive in any way?

If it’s private and non abusive then it would be difficult. Potentially could still be asked questions if an employer had legitimate concerns about those views and whether they reflected their core values. Loads of people have got into all sorts of problems on social media when things get out into the public domain. Matts views were all out there so Sky and Saints raised concerns.

If he said he was gay, he'd be hailed as a hero and probably even get his job back at Sky.

I do find the whole ‘defunding the police’ issue a bit misleading.Thatcher was keen to defund the police back in the eighties because it simply wasn’t working and I think that there is a definite argument to do it today. That’s not to cut all police work out but instead move large chunks of their funding into community work, through youth clubs, community centres etc rather than having a couple of fatties walking the streets doing bugger all.

When I was a kid we gave the police the absolute run around on our estate, it was a game and we had zero respect for the out of touch divs. This happens all over the country still, with young people having nothing to do. Invest the money into accessible sports facilities, boxing clubs, music rehearsal places, pay for relatable mentors to support the young people and not some PC Jobsworth.

I think the wording of Defunding the police has become misleading (not by yourself, in general) but there definitely needs to be something done about it because it’s not working.

The thing is, Matt also felt that it wasn't having an impact. People should be allowed to have their views as long as they arn't being abusive, racist, homophobic etc. I have a member of the family who is gay and am fine with it - no issues. I don't though, want to go around wearing multicoloured laces or rainbows around my neck because my employer thinks that is what I should do for example. I just don't want to. It doesn't mean I'm not supporting something. We should all be free to wear what we want. If people want to take the knee, wear rainbow laces, wear a BLM badge or a Trump hat, that's fine. But we shouldn't be saying we all have to or face the sack. The point really is that you could hold a gun to someone's head and force them to wear and say anything. But, it doesn't mean they believe in the cause, so it's not a genuine thing, if people face the sack for not doing it. This way, we don't know who people really are because they are all forced to do things. Matt from what I heard, was just expressing these views.

I have yes, loads towns and cities in the country are full of pissed up dopes as you say, but you’re missing the point, I’m not saying do away with the police at all. I’m saying redesign the police so the money is spent better. You’ve only got to look at some of the estates in Southampton now. The police get the runaround from kids and tons of public money is spent on doing so, but for what outcomes?

I’m no big fan of Thatcher but she proposed ‘defunding the police’ in the eighties and was shot down in flames.

As did another Police hater, Theresa May, but she partially succeeded.
Why do the police get the runaround? Because the woke courts, and to some extent, woke senior police officers don't allow the cops to get a result from their efforts as in convictions, so they can't be blamed for going for soft targets.
And the only time I've seen a copper on the streets for years is at St.Mary's or in town on a Saturday night.

I completely agree with you about the sentences and I would hate to be a policeman constantly arresting the same people only see them skip out of court time and again after receiving a pathetic sentence, in the same way I feel sorry for victims of the crimes that they’ve committed who never seem to get proper justice. We haven’t got prisons large enough to keep them and the prisons we do have are archaic and not fit for purpose and offer little in ways of a deterrent because for loads of these offenders of petty pain in arse crimes, it’s not that much of an inconvenience from their day to day lives.

I don’t blame the police for any of this, it’s the society we have that means resources are spent on glorified bouncers in town and controlling anti social behaviour.

I haven’t a clue what the answer is other than a shift in the British culture and I just can’t see that happening anytime soon.

Gary Lineker isn’t backward in putting forward his views on his Twitter account and the supposedly neutral BBC - his main employer - do the square root of fvck all about it.
