Much talk about this pre season.

It appears the average is over 1000 down on last season so far.

Do you mean clogs?

People are losing faith in the manager, I know many who now don’t go because they are fed up wtry the way we are playing and the results we are getting.

We haven’t beaten a team in our league at home for 6 months. Won 1 in the last 11.

The evidence is clear throughout history that the worse your results the worse attendances are. It’s not a coincidence we have 6,000 in the bottom division and 21,000 in the Premier League.

Use your noggin puppet.

Never known a person who listens and believes so much others tell them as you do.

The guy you know who knows the Piroe.
The people who tell you why they don't go to games.

Who is running the club down?

I think what is being pointed out is this manager is losing a lot of faith from the support. Hence why many don’t bother going now.

Unless you are suggesting the club is now Russell Martin… which ironically is what it seems with many on here.

Bizarre.

The OP was about falling figures and sime have humped on that comment to have a go.

Why on earth would you like a manager to come in and continue to play the way we are playing?

You do realise there is no other manager that plays this way don’t you?

And you know why don’t you?

Probably the reason we are 1000 less through the gate than last season.

We are entertaining with this style and it only needs tweaks.
Many others play this way but with more assurity.
We are not 1000 down on the crowd.
I pointed out above we are 414 UP on last season
After the first two games our attendance was 1,453 lower than the end of season average.
To make it easy for you and to save you the effort I have repeated the numbers …

First two home games last season and this
15,936 last year
16,350 this year
That is 414 UP this season.

Average attendance for first two home games last season
15,936
(I rounded down in my first post the actual difference between first two home games and season’s average was 414)
Sheffield (Sat) 15946 …. 0 - 0 draw
Stoke (Tues) 15927 … 1 - 3 loss
1 point.
Both teams finished above us (Sheff 5th / Stoke 14th)

16,350 average for first two home games this season
Blackburn (Sat) 16,632 … 0 - 3 loss
Millwall (Tues) 16068 … 2 - 2 draw
1 point
Both teams currently above us (Blackburn 1st / Millwall 5th)

Perhaps a more indicative headline would be attendances increased by more than a 1000!
In the first four matches of the 2021/22 season, Swansea had a combined total of 32 shots at goal, 12 of which were on target.

In the same number of games this term, (4) they have managed 54 shots at goal, 24 of which were on target - exactly double the amount they achieved in their opening four league outings a year ago.'

Attendances are dipping though, it’s a fact.

Attendances are also tightly correlated to fan feeling and performance. It’s been true of football for generations.

This is no different.

1 win in 11, no home win in 6 months vs a team now in our league. To pretend that there is no dip in faith and enthusiasm is just silly.

No idea of others circumstances but as myself I'd guess many are still away on hols and many tightening their belts , two home games this week for example is one more than perhaps a lot can afford ?

Exactly this, there are big financial implications for many due to the excessive price rises. Many simply cannot affort to and it is only going to get worse come the winter when many are spending 1000s on heating.

Going to football games is not a priority.

Entertaining in what way?

We came 15th last season and are 14th this season?

We have won 1 in 11. Do you mean the opposition fans are entertained?

Martin’s last team was 19th and 13th playing this way. Who is being entertained by playing this way exactly?

You can repeat the numbers all you like. This season we are 1000+ down on average than last seasons average. Fact.

There we go, can shut this one down now.

And to think many had missed a lot if football this time last season due to covid..... Speaks volumes.

Attendance figures are useful on the surface, but clubs all over the country mess around with them so they aren't particularly reliable to outsiders.

For example, being at the ground on Tuesday, its fairly obvious to me that club reported the amount of tickets sold rather than the actual attendance figure.

You would love it to be shut down, it doesn’t play into your ostrich narrative to avoid accountability.

Sadly it’s going nowhere, attendances are down and apathy is up.

Yep.

In fact Tuesdays attendance was higher than our first home game last season against newly relegated Sheff Utd.

Yes people forget season ticket holders are automatically included in the figure....it is not the number through the turnstiles.

So are attendances up or down?

Are we comparing them against….

The first two home games last season?
The Blackburn and Milwall games last season?
The average attendance over the whole season?

If they are even close to last season, with the country on the brink of recession, that’s a big pat on the back for the Swansea public.

Which might indicate that ST sales are up if you look at last seasons first 2 home attendances.

By all accounts the first 2 games are down by 1k compared to average last season but higher than the 1st 2 games last season.

So attendances clearly increased as last season went on compared to the first 2 games

We have a higher attendance on the first 2 games compared to the first 2 last season.

I think the whole question is a little premature to ask, no real solid foundation to give a definitive answer.

I’d expect that. Had we played Cardiff and Bristol City first, I’m sure our average attendance would be up on last season.
