Did you mean the independent electoral commission which has proposed that all constituencies in the UK should have the same number of voters so that they are more democratic.

I'll tell that to the two English couples who have recently moved into the street. They seem to like it more than enough down here.
Most of Europe has a tourist tax, which works out at a couple of £ at the most. I dont think there will be loads of people reconsidering holidays because of loose change.

Nope, just the ones who have moved into my street. Thats just my experience, obviously different areas will be different. I'd imagine if i moved into some places i wouldn't get on either.

The number of Welsh MPs is still the same it has not been cut and legislation has not been introduced to parliament let alone passed.
Why do you keep posting mistruths.
Wales has more control over its own decisions than England because there is no devolution in England. Welsh and Scottish MPs can still vote on England only matters in Parliament.
Anyway back to the Original post. Why should closed lists be imposed on the people of Wales? What ever happened to democracy? Perhaps voters should have a referendum on this power grab. | |

Looks like it would be up to individual councils to decide if they want to implement the tax. They are also talking about it costing about £75 per family. Would you travel from Manchester to North Wales or the lake district, or from Bristol to west Wales or Cornwall if the tax was implemented.

I’ve recently returned from a trip to Majorca where the Balearic Government have imposed a tourist tax - the place was bouncing! The rates vary according to the type of accommodation, a 5 star hotel costs €4 per person per night, a 3 star hotel costs €2 and camping or lodges cost €1, inland tourism is cheaper and kids under 16 are free. After 9 days the rate decreases by 50% and out of season the rate reduces by 75%.
There is no reason why we can’t introduce a sensible tourist tax, but the emphasis needs to be on the word sensible. Politicians have a habit of killing the goose that lays the golden egg!

They either put in blanket rules across Wales or don't bother. The regulations, speed limit and tourist tax are not practical. Only 68% (that includes Welsh Nationals visiting another area) of overnight stays are tourists the rest are business stays and people visiting relatives. The pressure that will be put on local councilors whether to implement the rules will be unexceptable.
