FA Cup 4th Round, Fleetwood off to Hillsborough - where we would have been promptly despatched with utter impunity, with precious little financial gain (?) (Sky money/gate receipts) etc.

Good luck to 'em.

Actually doesn’t work like that. Our number would have been different. You would have to go through all of the survivors to work out what our number would have been.
On the other hand, I can report that we are now the team that has been knocked out in the third round in the history of the FA Cup. So that’s nice.

Yes, I think we would’ve been away to Man Utd as ball No 31, Reading have now got that gig and a nice little earner!

It is something like 17/18 first hurdle exits since the turn of the century mostly at the hands of Championship and league one clubs. If a dozen of those defeats were against Premiership clubs we would have an excuse but they aren't. The fact that it keeps on happening whoever is at the club suggests we have no interest in these competitions.

I cannot understand how we can seemingly make no effort to try and equalise with 25 minutes to go. We should have rolled our sleeves up,stepping up the gears and constantly attacking Fleetwood.

Anyone would think the owners told the players we cannot afford a replay with the cost of running the floodlights, paying staff to come in the evening, old bill and steward costs etc so either win or lose. I just don't understand why we didn't snap out of the lethargy when we fell behind. This defeat was almost as bad as Vauxhall Motors as Fleetwood have only been a league club for a few years.

I thought Cardiff were awful against us but they were a couple of minutes away from beating Leeds today even without a fair few of their first team. At least they put in a shift despite the lack of quality. We looked hopeless by contrast yesterday.

I fuc*ing knew it we pi*sed away a chance at a great draw and on tv around the world also.
I know lots of LFW posters have been to Old Trafford before but none of the players have and regardless of the result it would have been a great occasion .

Actually it does. Your number is when you were drawn out of the hat for the third round so us and Fleetwood would have had the same number as well as the other teams. We would have been number 17 if we went through.

I watched the last 15 minutes of that and it cheered me up no end. I mean we lost away at a League 1 side, Villa got bet at home by a League 2 team.

On looking back at the 3rd round draw it looks like you’re right, my mistake. Anyway, all academic now!

Yes, but if we had won everything would be slightly different. Some knock-on effect from our victory may even have caused Wednesday to lose - something to do with a conversation between the Willocks, perhaps.

No crumb of comfort for me, we'd have been in round 4

Exactly this.

Everything would have been slightly different even if we'd drawn or if we'd lost 3-2.

And if we'd won we'd have drawn Blackburn. Away.

Suffering since 1978.

That’s fine because the club doesn’t need the money !
I say it every season, that the club needs prize money for getting past each round in both competitions, yet I doubt the message is made clear to the manager of the day.

Critchley could have started with our strongest team but starting with Kakay and Hamalainen was a huge error and waiting until we went behind to change anything didn’t make any sense. Even less so given his half time talk with the team. 15 minutes to improve or bring subs on could probably have worked better.

A benefit to me is I don't have to change my Hull train tickets .

It's always noisiest at the shallow end
