That some of the players aren’t exactly busting a gut for us. Dickie, woeful as he often is, appears to try and plays through the inevitable niggles every footballer will have. He’s played over 120 times in two and a half years. Balogun has barely managed that in fifteen years.

So whose your anger at? Balogun because his body can't stand up to the tests of professional football? It seems from everything I've heard and read his injuries are genuine, or do you know something nobody else does and he's faking it just to claim a wage? If that's the case then yeah, of course we should turning on him but that's just not true is it. We signed an injury prone player which is the issue, not Balogun's fault, he's just doing his best to secure a job or do you think he should have turned down a contract on good money with us because there was a good chance he could have injuries, who in the hell would do that?! People should direct their anger at how we ended up with him. The player should be accountable for what he delivers on the pitch and that's why I brought Dickie into it.
Yes Rob Dickie turn up for work and thankfully doesn't have the injuries of others but if we had alternatives right now he'd be nowhere near the first eleven.

Yes agreed, but that is why he is playing (or not) for us because that is what we sign, on the cheap/free transfer with probably a few grand signing on fee.!!
Have you not watched Rob Dickie this season? I do find it laughable that people are really going at Balogun when Dickie is turning it some of the worst dross I've seen for many a year.
I agree about Barbet though. Poor bit of business that one.

My anger is with the club in general, on and off the pitch but the thread is about Balogun. Five months for a calf injury just as Beale leaves. It’s plausible if someone shot an arrow through him.
Barbet is another story.......I have not got a clue why he left.

Well, we only have 3 fit centre backs. We moved to 3 at the back to cover the fact that Steff's mobility scooter can't get round the pitch quick enough. Then we went to a back 4 where the week before Laird played so badly I thought people were going to copy what the Spanish did to Napoleon's army and lower him into a boiling pot, so we can't have it all ways.
I'm fine putting criticism in appropriate places, but I'm not sure how you can watch Balogun, a very experienced professional who was rock solid earlier in the year when Daddy was picking him absolute clown the place up and think "This is Ainsworth's fault"
I'm not Balogun, terrible signing, but he's our best defender when fit. If he had delivered what Rob Dickie delivered that first half people would have been on the pitch. Dickie turned in a Sunday league performance, playing alongside him must have been a nightmare for his teammate.
The issue with Balogun is his injury record should have meant we stayed clear - we gambled. To then boo and blame the player just feels wrong. People should be directing their anger at those that brought him in, or more tellingly those that didn't have the strength to say NO to the powerpoint wizard when he was demanding him.
Was Balogun booed because he got injured? Yes we took some gambles bringing in players with injury records. Some were arguably justified because of our FFP situation, others not. For me we should have done more to keep Barbet rather than bringing in JCS who had and has missed a lot of games through injury. We still looked light at CB if Masterson is rightly considered not good enough, and with Dickie gettig exposed a lot, I can see why we brought in Balogun. He's been our best defender when he's played but he's been out too much unfortunately.
All the injuries to 1st team players have like last season screwed us, but so has the loss of form of players who were among our best. Willock's form from being among the best attacking players in the Championship until his hamstring went last season and then again early this season, has fallen off a cliff. Chair's improvement previous seasons has gone the other way this to the extent that the last 2 games he looks unable to control the ball and cannot pass to a teammate. Dickie's form has dropped a way since his start to last season. Dunne looking secure when clearing about everything in the air hasn't looked so comfortable with the ball on the ground or without Balogun or JCS alongside him, with Dickie, and especially at RB. Paal solid early season is no longer that. I reckon the changes of Manager have not helped them. Probably if we'd stuck with Warburton these players would still be doing well and we'd be comfortable in the top half of the table, but who knows.

And Wigan, and I know that he was involved in the penalty incident but he clearly states he did not think it was a penalty - I cannot tell because it is very unclear from the camera angle.

Fair enough, time will tell if he was faking/not giving everything to play during that injury period as sure stuff will come out in the wash. Personally I just think he's old (for a Footballer) and injury prone with injuries taking longer to recover from. I don't think he's not been playing out of choice hence it was a major problem bringing him to the club.
And I stand by the comment that of the defenders available, when fit, he's the best of them.
I didn't say he was - I said the Friday before Laird played there and was so bad he had to escorted around the fans by a steward so can fans then moan if Ainsworth plays someone else there?

This thread is about Balogun. If you're reaching for Dickie as a comparable performance to prove a point, you are really reaching for the first rung on the ladder
maybe we could get the QPR physio's to create a Frankenstein-esque hybrid of a player using the best bits of Dickie, Balogun and Dunne? ... But then what do we do with the 2 players created from all the offcuts???
Gave Gyokes (?) enough space to drive a 747 through then bollocked Paal for the benefit of the crowd.
Threw his young teammate properly under the bus to save his own skin from a supporter shoeing IMO.

If he had left it and gone to Gyokes we would not have conceded the first goal. That's two matches he's cost us and once again injured.
Some may say his injuries are not his fault, well we ain't a charity and we have to win matches. Money spent on him was a complete waste and has driven Masterson out of the club. Masterson may not be great but he's L1 decent and we may need that in L1 next season where Balogun won't be seen at all.
On Wed we won't miss Balogun at all in my view. If he's playing like that, regardless of injury.

If Balogun, who was the closest to the player who came away from the three man melee, did not shut the player with the ball down he would have been clean through on goal to shoot at goal in the centre of the defence.

Dunne/Dickie have a runner and Hamer(?) running at them with the ball. Balogun is nearer Gyokeres and instead of staying on him he runs towards Hamer leaving Gyokeres completely open and available for a pass.
