Premier League to introduce spending cap 16:34 - Apr 29 with 805 viewsSFC_Referee

Well I wonder how this will affect things, as it looks like it’ll be replacing the FFP sustainability rules. Makes you wonder what the punishment for breaking these rules will be…

It'll be ignored by those funded from the Middle East because they have the view that "our" rules should not apply and because they have money, they can do what they like.

There will be so many exceptions and exemptions that it will be meaningless.

Does it really matter? Whatever rules they put in, the snakey six especially City and Chelsea, will have their top lawyers and accountants all over it and will find a way to navigate it without reprisal.

Everton will rightly get hammered, obviously.

It won't work - and when it fails, the "big" clubs will eventually bugger off for real this time and form a European super league awash with even more obscene amounts of money in it than current levels.

It's not about the football, the fans, the league titles & cups anymore. It's all about the money, honey.

Couldn’t agree more. The sooner they bugger off the better. If you’d have said say 25 years ago that Chelsea and City would be a super power house dictating how the game is run, you’d have laughed you head off. Money has elevated both to a position that doesn’t reflect their history and status. Likewise Tottenham haven’t won a league title in most people’s living memory and are only included in the cesspit gang as they needed a sixth team to hold all the cards.

Throw in the desperate appeal to get a 5th team in the CL and it’s clear to see that it’s a cartel.

Without them, there will be plenty of great clubs to keep the great game going.

I would love to see a breakaway from the PL and the EFL and have a complete reset.

Its now a big 7 with Newcastle coming into the fold, that makes it very difficult to actually change things in the UK unless the European Super League is made a two division thing.

If you only have United, Liverpool, Manchester City and then perhaps one other in a European Super League, you still have the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs & Newcastle dominating the Premier League

... unless there's 'Euro Super League We've got all the Money 1' and 'Euro Super League We've got a Slightly Less Obscene Amount of Money 2'.
