A decent non league club who have undoubtably overspent and are now facing administration, but it highlights the state football is in, given that Manchester United have just spent £52 million on an 18 year old and are going to pay him £150 k a week

Im not sure, but I know Scottish punk band The Skids who had penned the Southampton anthem The Saints are coming, also wrote a song for them called Woking for the Yankee dollar, turns out its quite apt

Perhaps if Mr. Parsons were to hastily arrange a friendly at their ground, the Surrey masses would flock to their ground in their droves, helping their finances no end.

Nice thought Pat, but sadly for Woking the proceeds it would generate would be like trying to tackle a well established house fire with a watering can! They are about 10 miles down the road from me and in theory should be the top non-League side in the area. However, they were taken over not that many years ago and the new owners were very vocal at the time about how Woking would be in the Football League by now. At the time I thought, hello, let’s see how this goes… They are now over £7m in debt having lost just short of £1m last season.
Must be something in the water down there, the Borough Council - yes, Borough Council not County Council in Woking are an eye watering £1.2 BILLION in debt, other reports say £1.9bn - £2bn in debt and forecast to hit £2.6bn!! Pretty spectacular for a Borough Council. So, they won’t be bailing out the local footie club any time soon 😀
