Does it really matter if he plays other than to give people a chance to blame one player for our woes.
He maybe crap at this level but so are the rest of the defence and team. Can you imagine the abuse he would have got last night when THB fell asleep for their first goal.. Nick would have had kittens!

Jack Stephens has been given a further two-match ban and a £50,000 fine by the FA for his misconduct charge.
Will miss the fixtures against Arsenal and Leicester City. Think there is some belief that it’s a bit harsh. He requested in-person apology process etc.#SaintsFC

In reply to AH - not harsh at all, in fact, quite the opposite. Should have been a four match additional ban under the E rules he was charged under but it has been mitigated down to two games due to his previous good record and pious apology.
