Potential threat from the weather to Saturday's match 12:05 - Nov 20 with 19521 views | MAK | 3 days away, but could there be a threat to the Oldham match on Saturday? It got to -4c last night and with 3 more sub zero nights to come, including Friday night, the grass will be getting a little solid. I addition to that a potent low pressure system swings in early on Saturday with the possibility of a couple of hours snow before it all turns very wet. A Met Office warning is out for that. Even if there's not much in the way of snow, a lot of rain falling onto frozen or semi frozen ground isn't going to drain away that fast. To add to that, there's increasing likelihood of snow overnight Thurs/Fri, and amounts will possibly be more than we had Mon/Tue. Anything that falls will hang around all Friday as the temps will just get above freezing. Fingers crossed it doesn't play out like that, but potential problems are there. Hopefully they are being dealt with. [Post edited 20 Nov 12:13]

Potential threat from the weather to Saturday's match on 12:13 - Nov 20 with 6657 views | kel | The biffos are telling themselves that we’re not going to make an effort to get the game on because of their current form. I never thought I’d come across a fanbase as delusional as bury’s but it’s pretty neck and neck.

No doubt we'll be making it snow and freezing the ground too 🤣

As I type it is definitely a few degrees below zero, accompanied by light snowfall. All Dale's fault, obviously.

Travel arrangements will have been made, some may have booked time off. Others may have made hotel/guest house reservations, some all three.

This is the real issue. Communication from the club. Lack of communication creates a vacuum into which all manner of hypotheses are allowed to flourish. Another -5c morning and as someone who's walked the dog for 40 mins, its obvious all grass surfaces are frozen solid. The sun will help a little today, but at least 80% of the pitch doesn't see much if any this time of year. If everything is in hand and under control, then why not post something on social media saying as such. On the other hand, if Saturdays match is in any doubt whatsoever, then post something along those lines. A bit of honesty about a situation we can all see would help. God help any pub management in town if the match gets pulled at 10.30 Saturday morning, when there's a few hundred half cut travelling fans. They'll have fun trying to shift that lot out into the pouring rain. Edit - a quick check on X/Facebook etc just now, and all posts suggest all going ahead as expected 👍 [Post edited 21 Nov 9:50]

There haven't been any updates pertaining to the condition of the pitch.

Potential threat from the weather to Saturday's match on 12:33 - Nov 21 with 5086 views | rod_leach | I'm not sure what people want the club to say. If there's a chance it will be postponed they won't know until Saturday. They haven't got a crystal ball. The only other alternative is that they are 100% confident it will be on, which they can't be. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Potential threat from the weather to Saturday's match on 14:05 - Nov 21 with 4852 views | James1980 | The weather has been harsh enough for a local to voice concerns. True the club can't give any guarantees. They can give updates on the current pitch conditions. Fans can be informed about measures that have been taken to ensure the game goes ahead with the best possible playing surface. Turn the comments from Biffos on their head and use them as a rallying call.

Either it will be on or off. I'm pretty confident the club will be doing their best to ensure it goes ahead, without them telling me.the precise details. I couldn't give a flying eff what a few BIffo fans are commenting. I'm more bothered about the game itself, given both club's recent form. I'm hoping for the best, as I usually do, but it's slightly worrying

Of course the game will be "on or off", but as with James, some fans have to make early decisions which could prove very costly should a late postponement occur. It's likely to be touch and go on Saturday morning - we all know that, but communication doesn't cost the club a penny It's remiss of the club not to give some indication of the efforts being undertaken, upon which individual fans having to travel from afar can then make a more considered judgement. Unless, of course, the club couldn't give a flying eff about that... [Post edited 21 Nov 15:01]

My plan is come up Friday stay overnight go to the game and head back in the afternoon. Room is booked but I opted for the non refundable option. So do I chance it or do I forfeit the room and make other arrangements?

You do 'realise' it would get played at another time, don't you?

At the time of writing, they were posting about matchday guides and even food availability in the Ratcliffe. I guessing they wouldn't put that on unless confident of going ahead.

Potential threat from the weather to Saturday's match on 18:06 - Nov 21 with 4115 views | Edindale | Pitch update is helpful and optimistic. Hopefully the pitch will thaw but there is not a lot of time for the referee to make his decision. I have decided not to travel given the uncertainty and will rely on NLTV but the atmosphere will clearly not be the same. Even the Rose Bowl games back in the day had an edge to them. On the game I think we can get a positive result depending on which dale turns up.

Aye thought not. Because you’re not very good as this trolling lark, flower. We used to have a bury fan try the same and he wasn’t intelligent enough to hide it either.
